Spring time essentials ❤️

Well hello to you my reader chums! Blossoming trees and sunnier days, spring time has started early in the UK with some beautiful, bright weather. Spring is the season for bolder colours, fresh makeup and light-weight fashion so let's get into my essentials for this time of year.

Top beauty and fashion essentials for the spring

Lighter jackets

When the sun comes out, bid goodbye to the winter coats and branch out for lighter jacket season. Some of my favourite jackets I pull out in spring time; from a furry denim jacket to my beloved bright yellow raincoat, not having to wear too many layers is such a treat.

Body care

It's no doubt when the warmer weather strikes, the spring fashion takes centre stage. This means legs are out and the good old hibernation of winter is over. Even though my skin is drier in the winter, I tend to moisturise my legs when its warmer as they'll be on show. My favourite product is the Soap and Glory 'Sugar Crush' butter cream as it sinks in quickly and has the most incredible, lingering scent of sweet limes.

Sunglasses

On sunnier days, whether you're going for a drive or walk in the park, a good pair of sunglasses a needed to keep the shine out your eyes and protect them from the blaring sun.

Makeup

For spring, the fresher makeup looks come into play. Dewy skin, rosy cheeks and pink lips are my staple choices. With the sun in the sky and nature blossoming, it's the season I wear quite natural makeup.

Highlight - A shining sun means every opportunity for your highlight to glow. I love to go a bit crazy on the highlight in spring to have those on fleek cheekbones. My favourite all time product to achieve this is the Sleek 'Solstice' palette. I usually use the cream shade first on the cheekbones, brow bones and cupids bow then go in with a powdered shade for the ultimate highlight.

Pink lipstick - I'm not a massive fan of pink lipsticks, however I love toned down dusky pinks or slight pink nudes. This is the season I branch out with pink tones. Nyx Cosmetics matte creams offer a wide range of these shades including 'Rome', 'Stockholm' and 'Cannes' which I alternate between.

Blush - I'm a massive fan of contouring, however when spring comes along, I think rosy cheeks and a subtle bronze suit better. Cream blushes I find give the most natural and glowing finish on the skin. My go to at the minute is Max Factor's cream blush in 'Soft Murano'. It's a very warm dark pink shade and provides a lovely flush to the cheeks.

Eye shadow stick - As I like more natural looks in the spring, I find eye shadow sticks to be a quick and simple to give that slight wash of colour on the lids. The stick pictured is by a European brand 3ina in a mauve toned grey.

Beach day essentials

Well hello to you my reader chums! Salty air, sandy hair and beaming sunshine are what beach days in the summer are all about. I live on the coast so am forever down the seaside especially in the warmer months. Nothing makes me happier than getting a group of friends or family together and spending the day at the beach, relaxing, chatting and enjoying a swim in the sea. It's my favourite place to be, I love where I live and the freedom I have to be by the seaside.

As I'm a pro at beach days, I've put together my must have essentials to bring with you:

Beach day essentials

Sun cream - The first and most important essential has to be sun cream. If you're spending the entire day under the sun's rays, you need to ensure your skin is protected with regular sun cream application. My favourite one to use is Nivea's tan enhancer factor 30 because it helps slowly build your tan but also provides the necessary protection.

Sunglasses - Ensuring your eyes are protected from sun damage is vital. When the weather is warmer and I'll be out all day with the sunshine glaring at me, I like to wear some sunnies. The beauties shown above are a Primark number I love to pair with all my summery outfits.

Tangle Teezer - Salty, tangly hair can be a nuisance after a swim in the sea so I find carrying my trust Tangle Teezer with me is forever a must. It makes untangling hair a breeze and I love the travel friendly size of it - too cute.

Hand sanitiser - Sandy hands, melting ice creams and salt sea water; as much as I adore the beach sometimes things can get a little messy. I like to always have hand sanitiser and tissues with me for any 'just incase' scenarios that go ahead - it's always best to be prepared!

Book - As I live so close to the beach, it's lovely to escape from life's everyday hustle and bustle, to simply relax. When soaking up the beautiful sunshine, I find it's the perfect time to enter the world of a brand new story and fully unwind.

Headphones - Topping up my tan is the best time to completely relax so I like to pop in my headphones, listen to all my favourite tunes and maybe even have a cheeky nap! Headphones are a necessity I bring everywhere, you never know when they'll come in handy.

Water - A day in the sun, leaves the body dehydrated so it's vital to continuously drink water. Whether that means packing water in a cool bag or buying water bottles when arriving at the beach, it's a must have to ensure you're hydrated.

Coin purse - Instead of bringing a bulky purse to the beach, a coin pouch is an alternative to store your card, cash and keys in without the heftiness of the usual accessory. I also find if the coin purse is big enough, you can tuck away your phone to prevent sand and water damage.

Autumn essentials

Well hello to you my reader chums! With Autumn well and truly among us, it's time to share with you all my beauty and fashion essential items I love in this heart-warming season. Autumn is the time which I adore, where everything becomes that extra bit cosier, nights become longer, leaves fall off the trees and fashion/makeup can be much more daring. Christmas is approaching and the newly found excitement is just beginning!

Here's an overview of all my favourite things:

Jumpers - One of the best things about the weather turning colder is the wrapping up of clothes. I particularly love jumpers because on a cold day inside, there's nothing better than throwing on a comfy jumper and leggings to chill. Or wearing jumpers as part of any look, paired with jeans, cute Chelsea boots and a coat, layering is just fab. I have to be honest and say I own several jumpers in a variety of colours from fitted ones to more baggier options, both of which I love to wear on different occasions. The jumper choice above is a rather recent purchase which to me screams Autumn. It's from H&M, in a burnt orange/rust colour that when paired with navy jeans and brown boots looks like the perfect Autumnal outfit. I find jumpers the quickest clothing item to style as you can put them easily with either trousers or a skirt, choose some shoes and you're ready to go.

Tartan scarfs - Another clothing must in this season is scarfs, in particular tartan ones. I own 4 or 5 different styled tartan print scarfs which I alternate with different looks. Some are quite thin and designed to make an outfit look that extra bit chic, whereas many of the ones I own are rather thick, large enough to be a small blanket! With that extra thickness it helps keep in the heat on those rather chilly Autumn days. I love the layering of scarfs especially the ones in this print, as the colours they usually come in are those typical Autumnal tones or Christmas-esque colours, great for the upcoming excitement.

Berry lips - Probably my most favourite element in this season and that's berry lips. It's safe to say I'm a lipstick addict and one of those beauty lovers which will buy various similar coloured lip products. Out of all dark lips my top colour to go for is berry/burgundy tones as I simply just adore them. I think they compliment my complexion well and add that edge to any makeup look. I like to wear darker lips anyway on evenings out, yet when it hits Autumn I find myself grabbing for those colours more frequently and using them in the day. The options in the image above is the very hyped up Rimmel 107 and a newly addition of Mac's 'Diva' (yes I finally got it!) Even though both the shades are pretty similar, I find 'Diva' is a more vampier, darker option giving more of a purple tone whereas Rimmel's 107 has that slightly more berrier/pinker tone. Both however are absolutely  gorgeous, hold the best pigmentation and last for hours!

Lip balm - A more essential type item for this time of year is most certainly lip balm. I'm one of those people that when the cold hits my lips become incredibly dry. Therefore wherever I go I like to carry a lip balm with me as there's nothing worse than having ultra dry lips. My current favourite is Blistex's intense moisture pick because it has a scent very similar to vicks just not as strong, meaning when applied to the lips it feels like its doing something quickly due to the strength. I think it's best for those who suffer with extra dry lips because it can really aid with healing them.

Hand cream - Alike to my lips, when the cold weather strikes my hands become terribly dry and can crack if not taken care of, therefore a top essential for me is hand cream. I usually alternate between what hand cream I use and at the minute I'm enjoying the notable Soap and Glory's hand food. I bought this in the miniature size so I'm able to carry it with me on the go in case my hands aren't in a good state, I love the scent of this because  it's a blend of sweet and dusky that's not too overpowering. Also, the main thing I like is how its not greasy when applied onto the skin, nor does it take forever to sink in - the best qualities you can find in hand creams!

Bath bombs - My last Autumn essential are simply bath bombs, With colder weather now approaching, there's no better time to arrive home from work, run a lengthy warm bath, pop in a delightful bath bomb and sit back to relax, warming yourself up. Lush are typically my best option when it comes to bath products as there's nothing more luxurious than treating yourself to one of their treasures. I love how you can spend as little as 15 minutes to an hour, delving into an abundance of bubbles and letting your worries just float away! In my opinion it's just a divine way to de-stress an unwind on a chilly evening.

I hope you enjoyed this Autumnal post. What are your essential Autumn clothing or beauty items/tips?

Spring lip product essentials

Well hello to you my reader chums! Now spring has begun, I thought I would share with you my go to lip products for this season. The majority are fairly new finds and one is a favourite old discovery. For me when we transition into spring, its all about quite fresh makeup, pink lips and more brighter shades for the lips also. I've got a variety from quite subtle to very bright lip choices, here's all the products:

The first product is a Baby Lips Dr Rescue in the shade 'Just peachy'. This range is fairly new in the UK and come in a selection from light to more bold colours. 'Just peachy' is a baby pink colour and gives quite a glossy light pink wash over the lips. As its very low key, its perfect for a quick everyday use. I love this because its really moisturising on the lips and has a fresh, minty scent.
The next lip product is one of the hyped up Revlon lip butter in 'Peach parfait'. These are perfect for this season because you can just whip them on and they are super soft on the lips. This shade in particular gives a beautiful rosy coloured, glossy sheen on the lips.
Another one of my essentials are the Revlon matte balms, as you can tell from the picture above I have 3 which I adore for this season! The first one is in the shade 'Elusive' and is this medium, toned down pink shade. For me its a very Spring pink colour as its not too much of a bright pink, yet also not too muted- a great in between. Since these lip products are matte, the lasting power is very good and despite this element they are really soft on the lips. The application is a lip balm consistency, yet gives the final look of a lipstick.
A more bold option of the Revlon matte balms is the shade 'Audacious' This colour is a very bright orange, great for a more out there makeup look. I love orangey shades and for those braver people who would wear them this one is a good choice!

The last Revlon matte balm is one of my most recent additions and in the shade 'sultry'. Out of the three, this one is the darkest. The colour is a brown toned, dusky rose which when applied has a vintage edge to it. I think this one is a great darker option for a spring day!
The last item is a very loved product of mine and it's Tanya Burr's 'Picnic in the park'. I was obsessed with this when I first bought it for the Spring time last year. Its a beautiful pinky colour with a glossy sheen over the top which is the only lipgloss I know to not only last but leave your lips feeling moisturised! I think those who love a subtle bit of colour especially pink will adore this product as its not too striking! For more swatches I wrote this blog post a while back.
