Les Misérables, Willy Wonka themed afternoon tea and Vicar's picnic festival

Well hello to you my reader chums! I love a day in London and especially when I'm able to go to the west end. I've had a few fun days in London and here is what I got up to, and my experiences.

On arrival in London, I left my bags at the hotel I was staying in and headed down to Covent Garden before making the way to the theatre. There's something about Covent Garden which holds a special place in my heart. It has an ultra-charming vibe with boutique shops, an everyday market, and seasonal décor wherever you look. I took a little mooch around the shops and markets then got a grab to eat before it was showtime.

Les Misérables London tickets

I'm a massive theatre addict. I love going to all types of shows but musicals have to be my ultimate favourite. There's nothing better than watching a story come to life with music, dancing, and clever stage production. Les Misérables, has been one of those shows I've wanted to see for absolutely years but never got the chance, however, now I can say I've finally seen it.

The production was out of this world! I didn't think any show could be as good as my favourites, Billy Elliot or Wicked but Les Misérables was on another level. The actors' voices were insane and given the impressive staging, plus costuming, I was amazed. Each song was ten times better than the film and the actors performed with such raw emotion in each role. It's a sight I wish I could see over and over again. I've got 'a heart full of love' for Les Misérables!

After the show, I freshened up at our hotel and then made my way to San Carlo Cicchetti's, an Italian tapas-style restaurant. I got recommended this restaurant by a friend and going by the exterior, I couldn't wait to see which food was in store. It's different from any Italian restaurant I've been before; the idea being that you pick a selection of medium-sized dishes say 5 or 6 in oppose to the usual starter, main system. I loved this as you got the chance to taste a little bit of everything and still being able to fit in dessert. The food was divine, there was everything from classic pasta, pizzas, meat dishes, fish tasters, and all sorts of appetizer style plates. If you're a big foodie, I'd definitely say give it a try. It's located in Covent Garden and as it's very popular, it would be best to book a table beforehand.

The décor had a rustic yet modern feel given the rose gold tables and classic pizza ovens on show. With a charismatic and inviting atmosphere, I'd go back in a heartbeat for the friendly service.

After a charming dinner, I chilled at my hotel, The Montague Gardens, located 5 minutes from Russell Square tube station. The hotel was a complete and utter treat, it felt like living in pure luxury for a night. My room was a suite with a living area, bedroom, bathroom, and an additional shower room. If you're looking to stay in central London for a night and wanted to treat yourself, I'd highly recommend this hotel. It's a 5-minute walk from the tube station and only two stops from Piccadilly Circus.

The second day in London, after breakfast, I took a tube down to Green Park and strolled around the area until I arrived at The 'Chesterfield at Mayfair hotel'. I was taken aback by the interior when the lady asked 'are you here for afternoon tea?' Before I could react, I was seated and a waiter came over and said 'Welcome to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory afternoon tea!' Honestly, it was the best surprise EVER, I couldn't wait to see what they served up. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original) is my favourite film of all time so an event like this was beyond exciting!

The afternoon tea was delicious and creative all in one. At first, you got served a tea, we chose the chocolate kind, and then the incredible layer of food was placed in front of us. What's amazing about the food is that every single item was refillable so you could top up on sandwiches, scones, and all the chocolate goodies as much as you'd like.

The sandwiches had the yummiest fillings and the scones were baked to perfection but the best layer by far had to be the Willy Wonka themed treats. Out of the top layer, the Wonka Bar, golden egg and blueberry macaroon were my favourite. I love how they incorporated all the film elements to create such scrummy desserts.

As all drinks were refillable, I decided to get chocolate milkshakes instead of the regular tea as in all honestly I don't actually like tea, although the chocolate kind wasn't that bad. The milkshakes were refreshing and chocolatey just how they should be.

After the best two days in London, I headed back home in preparation for the Vicar's Picnic Festival, held in Yalding on Friday and Saturday of that week.

The two days were packed with great music, quirky food trucks, glitter stalls, boot fair-style stalls, and a charming family-friendly atmosphere. I headed down and enjoyed all the festival had in store. The music was quite old school, with a few classics thrown in here and there.

Saturday was busier out of the two with larger crowds and more modern music. Fratellis headlined and ended the night with a bang singing their classic tunes.

The food scene was ever so hipster with double-decker pizza restaurants, quirky cocktail stalls, and burger trucks galore. If you're a foodie like me, you'd be in your element and trying out absolutely everything!

I had the best time at the Vicar's Picnic festival; the heart-warming vibe, chilled back music, and endless chats were the perfect way to top off the week.

I hope you enjoyed a look at my exciting week! What's your favourite theatre show you've ever seen?

Olly Murs Summer Tour 2017

Well hello to you my reader chums! Summer is fully underway with exciting events happening here and there. On Friday, I added another concert to my never ending list and saw Olly Murs live in one of my closest cities, Canterbury. I've always been a fan of Olly Murs, with his 'cheeky chappy' ways, he's certainly a crowd pleaser and I couldn't wait to see him live!

The concert was in a massive cricket ground and as we got standing tickets, we were able to get ourselves into the perfect position to watch Olly grace the stage. There were four of us in total, me Danielle and our two friends. With concerts, it's always an even better experience when there's a group as you're able to bounce off each others energy.

Louisa Johnson opening act for olly murs

Louisa Johnson, winner of 2015's X Factor, set off the tour with a bang. Astounding vocals, feisty moves and a welcoming tone, she had fab stage presence. I couldn't get over how incredible her voice was, especially during covers and her single 'Tears'. At one point, she brought her sister out on stage which was the cutest thing to watch and she even sung like an angel. Louisa came back on later in the concert to sing hers and Olly's new song, 'Unpredictable'. They worked so well as a duo, with their perfect harmonies and friendly relationship.

Now it was time for Olly himself to show some moves. He didn't disappoint in the slightest! Olly is one of the best performers I've seen; his infectious personality, witty charm and flirty attitude got the whole audience smiling. There was something about how he put on the show that made us all giggle, sing our hearts out and feel every emotion under the sun. I love how he sang all his classic hits and covered a few old school tracks to get the audience going. A true performer, if you haven't already get yourself a ticket to see the cheeky singer himself.

Concerts are one of my favourite things to do. You can't describe the love you feel in a room with live music and how everyone comes together to support the act on stage. I loved every minute of Olly's tour and can't wait till the next concert.

I hope you enjoyed this post. What was your last concert?

21st birthday celebrations and Robbie Williams concert!

Well hello to you my reader chums! June has been a hectic month, to say the least, I've had a Shawn Mendes concert, my Malta holiday, and the past week, a time period full of birthday celebrations. My twin and I just turned 21 and had the best time celebrating!

Here's a look at everything we did...

On Saturday 17th June, a few days before our actual birthday, we hosted a party with all our family and friends. It was a truly fabulous night packed with singing, dancing, laughter, and a whole lot of love. I felt so blessed to be surrounded by a large group of people who love us both dearly and went out of their way to celebrate with us.

From classic dance tunes to blaring night club anthems, the party was a blast! I danced with everyone, sang the night away, and ultimately spent the time with those who mean the most.

On our actual birthday, the 21st June, we had a family afternoon and then I went out in the evening with my best gals. We chose our local Greek restaurant for our birthday lunch, which served up my favourite dish the classic pasticcio and ice cream for dessert.

21st birthday celebrations

The restaurant is located on our local harbour so the perfect opportunity for a few candid snaps!

21st birthday celebrations

Our birthday falls on the summer solstice, aka the longest day of the year. This year, we were lucky enough to get the longest day and the hottest - our birthday was a scorcher, hitting 30 degrees! Sunshine, laughter, and precious moments, I'm happy to have spent the day with my loved ones.

When evening hit, I glammed myself up in an ASOS playsuit and headed to the tapas & wine bar with my girls. It's lovely being able to have the time with my family, boyfriend, and my best friends all in one day. The tapas bar served up a wide range of dishes with the pork belly being my absolute fave. It was served in a sweet soy sauce and melted n the mouth; I could have eaten plates of it! Wine, chats, and presents, I'm blessed to have the best friends I do in my life.

The week wasn't over yet! Come the Friday, the girls and I had tickets to Robbie Williams' tour, 'The Heavy Entertainment Show' at London's Olympic Park. We bought these a few months back for Danielle's 21st and the day finally arrived; we couldn't wait! Robbie didn't disappoint, he put on a truly epic show and we all loved every single minute. We were able to get standing tickets, putting us right in front of all the Robbie action. My highlights have to be 'Angels', 'We're strong', 'Sweet Caroline', 'Let me entertain you' and 'Rock DJ'.

Entering another year of my 20s, I want to travel as much as I can, taste every cuisine out there and meet so many new faces. I aim to explore, to love hard and make the best stories with those closest to me. Here's to even more adventure and fun this year will bring!

I hope you liked this birthday style post! When is your birthday?

London Diaries | Shawn Mendes Illuminate tour

Well hello to you my reader chums and welcome back! It feels like forever and a day since I've sat down to write a blog post. If you follow me on Instagram, then you'd have probably seen my holiday spam of photos, where I've been lucky enough to sun it up in Malta over the past week. Before the holiday excitement (there will be a post very soon), I attended Shawn Mendes worldwide tour and loved every minute of it.

Here's what happened..

Shawn Mendes Illuminate tour

On the 1st June, my twin sister and I went along to see him light up the stage at the 02 arena in London.

Lucy and Lydia

As we were lining up, I looked around and saw my favourite YouTubers, Lucy and Lydia walking towards the queue. I've been watching their channel for way over 4 years now and couldn't not say hello to them. The girls were an absolute treasure and so genuine. I didn't know what to expect but they're exactly the same in their videos to real life. They're the type of people you can chat to for hours on end about everything, I'm so thankful we finally had the chance to speak.

Then concert time arrived! The opening act was James TW who put on a charming set before Shawn Mendes graced the stage. As he came on, the crowd went absolutely wild! The lights flashed and his voice filled the room, melting everybody's heart as he sang his favourite tunes.

There were so many highlights of the night, however my favourite songs he performed were 'Lights on', 'Three empty words', the classic 'Stitches', 'Treat you better' and 'Life of the party'.

There's no better atmosphere than a concert, a room filled with people who share the same love of music and the artist you do. Attending concerts and hearing musicians live is one of my favourite things to do. Watching someone share their passion with such a wide audience never fails to amaze me. Shawn Mendes, thank you a phenomenal night. Your Illuminate tour was one of my highlights so far this year and I'm happy to have spent it with my twin sister. If you ever get the chance to see him live, take it as he blew me away. His voice live and stage presence is ever so heart-warming. Bring on the next concert!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Who are you next seeing in concert?

Girls active | How to get involved

Well hello to you my reader chums!

I've got some exciting news - I'm an ambassador for the Girls Active campaign! When they got in touch to ask if I'd be on board, I couldn't say yes quick enough. Their aim is to encourage young girls to get active and be more involved with physical activity, building their confidence/ self-esteem. This is an idea I love - so many young girls doubt themselves when it comes to a lot of things, especially sports just because they're a girl. It's time to change that status and empower us girls to being the brave squad we are! Find out all the info over on their website.

When I think back to the days of P.E or any sort of sports in my school years, they're not the fondest of memories. I never really participated in sports as I was always afraid I wouldn't be good enough and make a fool of myself. At my school, there was the choice between P.E and dance from year 9 onwards so I chose to study dance from that point, giving up on the whole idea of sport. I did however in my spare time, love to cycle and walk a lot during my early years of secondary school.

Take a look at their video below..

Today however, the idea of working out and participating in sports excites me. I love a challenge and pushing myself to achieve a goal with exercise. There's no other rush you receive quite like it - I wish I had this same mind-set during my younger teenage years. As part of the 'girls active' campaign, I want to inspire my readers especially younger ones to go out there and get involved with sports. Whether that's going to a fitness class, taking up tennis lessons or swimming more regularly, participating in sports will make you feel healthier and also build your confidence.

Here's a few tips on how to get involved..

1) Take it slowly - Sport isn't for everyone and those new to pushing the boat out can be shy around the matter. Take one step at a time, perhaps start with a fitness class every week, then begin going more regularly as time goes on. This will build your confidence with the chosen sport and you'll learn to interact with others at the same time.

2) Bring a buddy - If say, you'd like to take up tennis or join your school netball team, ask one of your friends to come along. This will help you to ease into that situation a bit quicker as you'll have a friendly face by your side. If you both mess up or aren't the best at your chosen sport, you can just laugh it off which will make the situation even more fun.

3) Branch out your comfort zone - In all walks of life, whether that's in school or your adult life, stepping out of your comfort zone is a must. This could mean walking a further distance or participating in a sport you never thought you would; being active is full of opportunities.

Being active is good for the mind and soul, keeping you healthy in all areas. Get involved and encourage everyone you can around you to exercise. You can begin by swapping that bus journey for a walk or cycling up the country path instead of strolling. These little things will eventually build up into a more set exercise routine. But the main thing is to be happy in whichever activities you're doing, to create a better future for yourselves.

I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post and get involved with the campaign. How do you keep active?

Follow along with them over on their Instagram, @girls_active.

5 things I wish I knew in my teens

Well hello to you my reader chums! In just under 2 months time, I'm turning 21 which in itself is a crazy thought. I don't feel anymore of an adult than when I turned the big 18, but over these past 3 years it's safe to say I've become more confident and wiser which I guess comes with age. As I've grown up and gained a bit of life experience since 16 when I started this blog, I wanted to share a few things I've learnt.

Here's 5 things I wish I knew in my teens..

5 things I wish I knew in my teens

1) Don't be scared of the world

The world is a wonderful place. There's so many incredible beaches, landscapes, bustling cities and charming towns to explore, why shouldn't you travel to every little nook? When I was in my younger teens, the thought of venturing to a new location with a completely different culture terrified me. I barely wanted to go anywhere beyond Europe and the thought of flying made my skin crawl. Fast forward a few years later and I have the travel bug. I'm constantly planning a new trip, whether that's a city break or beach trip. I love reading about new cultures and can't wait till the day I can soak it all up. So, my advice to you - travel, wherever and whenever. You won't know what a new country or continent is like until you've seen it with your own eyes. Be a jet setter and see the world whilst you're young.

2) Have a little faith everything will work out

I think when you're at school and the pressure to look a certain way, think what everybody else does or have the future your teachers plan, leaves everyone a little confused in what they want in life. I know when I was at school, everybody had plans to go to university but that wasn't what I wanted and left me even more confused in trying to find myself. Sometimes, we all put a little too much thought into everything instead of letting it fall into place. I'm a great believer in 'everything happens for a reason' and somehow it'll all work itself out. Whether that's a job or relationship, it'll come when its meant to happen. Your struggles mould you into the person you're meant to be, a stronger and wiser soul. So try not to stress when you're unsure with what's the next step in your life, just take it day by day and see what happens.

3) Don't be somebody you're not

Its inevitable in your teens you try to fit in with the crowd as let's face it, we all want to be liked by our peers. But even if you feel included, there's no point pretending to be somebody you're not as it'll only lead to not feeling happy in your own skin. Be weird, quirky and embrace all the flaws you were born with. As even if you feel like the odd one out, you will find friends who like you for you. Stay wild!

4) Open up about your feelings

A problem shared is a problem halved, I'm an avid believer of this. When growing up, there's constant pressure at every turn, school work, how to look, finding yourself etc etc, so if anything is bothering you, talk to someone. That could be to a friend, parent or teacher, talking about your feelings will take the weight off your shoulders and get the reassurance you need. When I was younger, I never did this as I was always afraid people would think I'm crazy, however as I've grown up a bit, I've found speaking up with what's wrong really does help.

5) Don't wear your heart on your sleeve

I'm guilty with this one especially in my teens. I'd describe myself as someone who spreads love out generously to everybody in my life so if they ever do anything to hurt me, I get heart broken very easily. However, life is like that, people will let you down and say horrible things, you've just got to pick yourself right back up. Only throw your feelings into people who really put in the time and effort with you, otherwise you'll be left disappointed. Be strong, be wise and be sassy. Life is too short to get upset over the little things.

I hope you enjoyed this advise style post. What things do you wish you'd known in your teens?

A Burlesque night at Privee Knightsbride - London diaries

Well hello to you my reader chums! The weekend just gone, my group of best friends  and I headedup to London for a Burlesque night. For our Christmas present, Danielle (pictured in second image below), gifted us tickets to a Burlesque night at Privee Knightsbridge and we couldn't wait to go along. Neither of us had yet to experience a Burlesque show or a London night out so were unsure what to expect.

Here's a look at my favourite snaps from our London weekend:

London weekend out
Me, Chloe (in the middle) and Molly

We travelled up late morning on the Saturday and chilled in one of my best friends family's house. After a fish & chip lunch, afternoon snacks and a good old natter, we began getting ready with the help of a glass of wine (or two).

Poloroid memories

You can't begin a girls night out without a few snaps when getting ready. We had a good old laugh, put our dresses on and hopped in a taxi, ready for the event.

London taxi ride

Upon arrival, the location was tucked away amongst boutique shops, restaurants and bars, through a special door. Above the event venue was the restaurant and downstairs is where the show took place. You were greeted with champagne cocktails and a welcoming smile from the doorman, who escorted you to a chosen table. The venue was very intimate; a bar setting with a selection of tables and flat stage at the far end. We opted for the table to the left of the stage for the best view. The show began with an absolutely charming host, she brought the whole thing to life. Her charismatic flair and humour made us cry with laughter! We were her little cheerleaders in the corner and even got a shout out. A crowd pleaser and fab singer, she sung along to all the classic cabaret tunes before the main acts began their perfomances.

The show was broken up into 3 bits, 2 sections of Burlesque dancing and one belly dancing act with the hosts sketches in between. There were two main dancers for Burlesque and a belly dancer who came from Dubai. All three performed well and the atmosphere felt cheery, like a cosier, theatre setting.

As part of the ticket, you received a three course meal from the set menu. I chose beef for starter, the vegetarian main of an aubergine style dish with rice and apple pie for dessert. The food was delicious and paired with the cocktails, a fab treat. They had the finest selection of other cocktails on offer which we tried and loved. I have to say for the first experience of a Burlesque night, we all had a truly brilliant time. Privee Knightsbridge put on a show and created a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Champagne cocktails

Once the show was over, the bar took over playing party tunes so we stayed until they closed dancing the night away. For the last half an hour it was only us 4 left in the venue which meant we had full control of the song choices, singing along to our favourite tracks.

Overall, a for a first Burlesque experience, Privee Knightsbridge in London had it all. I'd completely recommend for a trip with the girls or even a date with your other half. Filled with humour, a bit of magic and dancing, it's one not to miss.

I hope you enjoyed this day in the life style post. Have you ever been to a Burlesque show?
