Autumn inspired OOTD and makeup

Well hello to you my reader chums! The leaves have fallen, the chiller weather has set in and my favourite clothes are out, autumn is officially here. I say this all the time, but one of my favourite things about autumn is the fashion and makeup. Darker lips, over-sized jackets and ankle boots are back; every item that describes autumn fashion to me.

Here's my take on an autumn inspired OOTD and makeup look...

Denim jacket - Primark
Stripy top - Pull & Bear
Black jeans - Topshop's Joni jeans
Ankle boots - New Look

I've seen oversized denim jackets everywhere this season and had been wanting to get my hands on one for a while. Topshop are known for selling these pieces, however instead of the £60 price tag, I found a dupe in Primark for only £20. The difference between them is minimal; stylish, comfy and a piece that will get the most wear this autumn. I paired it with a stripy tee, high-waisted black jeans and Chelsea boots, for a casual yet quirky vibe.

The jacket is the featured piece of this outfit, which you can wear paired with jeans, skirts or even a dress for that over-size look. Its one of those items that are so versatile, you're able to look super casual or incredibly stylish; a trendy jacket every girl needs this autumn. I'm in love with it an cannot wait to style it with more outfits.

Autumn makeup

Typically in autumn, I take out my copper shadows and berry lipstick, however I wanted to do something a little bit different with this look. For the eyes, I focused on a champagne base, darkened the outer corners with a blend of browns/reds then ran a burnt orange, red shade under the eyes for a bit of definition. The base is my general everyday makeup with bronzed cheeks and a light highlight. I chose to go for a red lip as it added that pop of colour and complimented the stripes well.

Base
Revlon's 'colour stay' foundation, Rimmel's 'wake me up' concealer, Rimmel's 'stay matte' powder, Benefit's 'Hoola' bronzer and Sleek's 'Cleopatra highlighting palette'.

Brows and eyes
Sleek's eye brow palette in 'light'. Too Faced Sweet Peach palette; shades used, 'Peached 'n cream', 'Nectar', ' Luscious', 'Puree', 'Summer Yum' and 'Charmed, I'm sure'.

Lips
Nars' velvet matte lip pencil in 'Cruella'.

August favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! After the ups and downs of British summer weather, we're slowly coming into the Autumn season, let's wave hello to September. I can't be the only one to say this but August did really sweep by, like all our summer months with the exciting season of Christmas that lays ahead. I have so much love for autumn; with the leaves falling off the trees, its cosy nights in, the best fashion options and makeup looks, it can't get much better. Through August, I hadn't tried out many new beauty items, however a few did catch my eye.

Here are my August favourites...

August favourites 2017

Too Faced sweet peach palette

Too Faced Sweet Peach palette

I received this palette for my birthday and fell in love with the shade selection. Its packed with a variety of colours from everyday neutrals, warm browns/reds with bright pinks and purples thrown in. The Too Faced Sweet Peach palette has something for everyone, whether you love a toned down look or want to go wild with a bright pink. You can't fault the intense pigmentation, colour pay off, blending ability and endless lasting power; like all Too Faced products, this palette is top quality. I can't wait to use the warmer shades for the winter months and continue using its neutral shades. I'll be doing a review and makeup look very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that post!

Makeup revolution blending sponge

Makeup Revolution sponge

I'm the biggest fan of using sponges to blend liquid base products as I find they give the most even coverage and reach every angle of the face. My favourite to use are the Real Techniques take on them because they're incredible quality and do the job. However, I received a Makeup Revolution brush set lately and in it came their dupe on the beauty blender. After giving it a go, I was very impressed. It's slightly smaller than the Real Techniques option, however holds the product and provides that even coverage I love. The only down side is makeup stains the sponge very easily and can be hard to wash off. Yet, if you're looking for a dupe of the beauty blender or Real Techniques version, I'd recommend Makeup Revolution's sponge.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth deep conditioning treatment

TRESemme deep smoothing mask

My hair has a natural curl to it and can generally look quite dry, given its slight frizzy state. When it comes to a hair wash routine, I like to incorporate highly conditioning products to bring out the shine and keep it smooth. This deep conditioning treatment helps a lot. I like to use Tresemme smoothing mask on every other hair wash as too much product for the hair isn't too good. After leaving it on for a few minutes, I really notice the difference and once my hair is dry, it feels silky smooth; a must with hair products for me.

Zoella beauty Sweet Inspirations mist

Zoella Sweet Inspirations body mist

Zoella Beauty mists are completely underrated. I've found that as their scents are so strong, you can wear them like a perfume and they'll last all day long. 'Sweet Inspirations' has become my favourite at the minute because I'm addicted to the sweet scent. It reminds me of a mix between sweet shops and a spa, yet completely moreish, you want to keep spritzing. With sweet scents, I always find they can be too sickly, however this is much more of a lighter option which lingers throughout the day.

I hope you enjoyed my August favourites. What's your go to product at the minute?

Smoky green eyes: Festive makeup

Well hello to you my reader chums! Christmas is under a week away so whether you want to try a new makeup look for the big day itself or have any parties beforehand, I've put together a smoky, olive toned eye to share with you. Instead of my usual go to gold/copper eye with a red lip, I thought this look was a bit more daring, especially for those who love a smoked up shadows.

Here's how to achieve the smoky green eyes:

Christmas makeup ideas

Christmas day makeup

Sephora shadow stick:

To begin and ensure my eye make up lasts the entire day, I applied Sephora shadow stick in 'Kaki'. As it's in a pencil shape, you can easily draw it on and blend out with your fingers. I like to take the stick all over the lid and into the crease, blending it out to achieve an ultra shimmery, khaki base. The consistency is incredibly creamy and a dream to blend onto the eyes. It's highly pigmented and densely packed with shimmer, ideal to use in the festive season for a top notch glittery eye.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette:

For more intensity and to darken the look further, I packed on shade 'Gilded Ganache' all over the lid, a dark and olive coloured shimmery shade. Then for extra smokiness, blended out the shade 'Triple Fudge', a matte, khaki colour on the outer corner and under my bottom lash line. To finish, I applied shade 'White chocolate' on the inner third of my eye, for a brightening effect.

Lips:

Since the eyes were quite intense, I toned down the look slightly with a nude lip, Nyx matte lip cream in 'Cannes'.

Beauty review: Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette

Well hello to you my reader chums! After lusting over Too Faced's chocolate bar palette for a long while, I took the splurge and finally got my hands on it. Excited was an understatement, I couldn't wait to put it to the test and see what the crazy obsession with this chocoholic's dream palette was all about. I wasn't disappointed to say the least, it truly lived up to all the expectations and even held the addictive chocolate scent!

Too Faced chocolate bar palette

Packaging - Bringing every chocoholic and makeup lovers fantasy to life, the design captures a real life chocolate bar! Closed with a magnetic seal, wide mirror and thin size, the sleek design provides security, perfect to take along when travelling. I love how alike to chocolate it looks and the elegant font style used, certainly living up to the upmarket status.

Colour selection - One of the reasons I wanted to purchase this (aside from the obvious chocolate love) was it's wide selection of neutral shades. As a big fan of gold/bronze eyes and bold lips, most of my palettes are neutral based so I couldn't wait to add this to the growing collection. From creamy golds, soft bronzes, sweet champagnes, pops of autumnal and bright pink colours, it offers something for every season; the versatility is endless. Two shades I was intrigued by were 'Amaretto', a cranberry shade and 'Glided Ganache', a dark olive toned colour because I'd love to embrace a more darker eye when the cooler months hit. My favourite by far have been 'Crème brulee' as I adore gold colours for my blue eyes, 'Marzipan' to use on an every day basis and 'Salted caramel' as a natural crease colour.

With the colour selection comes the vast range of different shade names! I love how Too faced are not only creative with the entire concept, design but also the names chosen. They picked a wide variety of adorable ones, truly fitting with the entire chocolate theme; I love it.

Pigmentation - I've heard a lot of amazing words about Too Faced eye shadows and they haven't disappointed. The richness of the shimmery shades is stunning, one swipe and you have an abundance of colour on the lid. The matte shades are similar, however not as intense and take a tad more building up to create the full on defined look.

Texture - With intense pigmentation, the texture didn't fail to impress me! Each shade is truly creamy, that when applied feels soft on the lids. The texture is quite thick meaning it doesn't take a lot of layers to build up the true colour pay off. The shimmery shades are especially incredible with their flecks of glitter shining through.

Blending ability - Seamless, beautiful and easy. When layering the matte shades through the crease, I found building up colours and blending them through to be brilliant. They'd buff in enough to give a natural look or smoke it up for that more intense, darker eye.
