Mac's Russian Red matte lipstick full review

Well hello to you my reader chums! Christmas is always an exciting season for many reasons including jazzing up makeup looks. Bold red lips are a staple look many beauty bloggers rocks during Christmas and my favourite is the classic Mac Russian Red.

Whether you're a big lipstick fan or on the hunt for a new red, here is my full review of Mac's Russian Red lipstick.

Mac's Russian Red lipstick

Matte finish

I'm a complete addict when it comes to matte lipsticks. It's my favourite finish because it will compliment a shimmery eye, last longer than satin or gloss and give a bolder statement to any makeup look. Russian Red's finish is completely matte with no overall glossy shine. Despite the finish, the creaminess and comfort aren't taken away from the product. The lipstick applies very smoothly onto the lips and isn't drying. After a whole day or evening wear, my lips do begin to feel dry, however over the short period of a few hours, you're good to go.

Pigmentation

Mac Russian Red's pigmentation is seamless. The bright, blue-toned red is ideal for any occasion, whether that's a Christmas party or a day out at the markets, the colour suits all festivities. I'd say, once applied onto the lips, you'll need one or two layers to achieve the full bold, colour pay off. As it's such a staple red, it suits many different skin tones and series of looks. I couldn't fault the richness, creamy texture or pigmentation of this product.

Lasting power

For some reason, I'm one of those people where lipsticks don't stay on no matter whichever Pinterest hack I use. However, Mac's lipsticks including Russian Red cling to my lips on many occasions, lasting a good few hours. The lasting power increases when I apply lip liner or use a dabbing technique, but ultimately for me, this lipstick wears incredibly well.

Overall thoughts

Given the perfect festive shade, faultless lasting power and pigmentation, can you think of a better lipstick for this season? I'm obsessed and will continue to use this as my go-to red all year round, especially at Christmas time.

December favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! With the festive period of December over and the start of a new year, it's time to share with you my favourites over the past few weeks. There hasn't been a crazy amount of products I've been loving, however, these items shown below are ones I'm currently obsessing over.

Whether you're on the search for the perfect red lipstick or neutral eye shadow palette, here are my December favourites.

December favourites

Aussie's 3-minute miracle

My first favourite of December is this Aussie, haircare treatment. I don't usually mention hair products mainly because I'm not one to change up my routine, however, I've thoroughly been enjoying this and wanted to share my newfound obsession with you. I picked it up as it was on offer in Superdrug about a month or so ago as I was looking for something to deeply condition my hair.

I use this treatment on my hair after every wash and I'm rather shocked how much of a change it has made to the condition of my hair. Since using it, I've found my hair to feel much healthier, smoother and the overall look vastly improved. I apply this after I've shampooed, conditioned and then leave it for the given 3 minutes to works its magic. The product isn't too thick, or thin, yet it manages to coat the hair and does exactly what it says, a '3-minute miracle'

Fleur de Force's 'Cosmic Bronze' palette

Another favourite of mine has to be this gorgeous eye shadow palette by FleurdeForce. Made up of 4 beautiful bronze toned shades, the quad is perfect for everyday use and those who adore a neutral eye like me. When swatched and applied, the colours are incredibly pigmented, blend well and last. I'd say the quality is nearing the high-end mark and for £8.99 it's an absolute bargain. With the size, it comes in it's also great for travelling and as you have 4 easy colours to use, you can easily create many different looks. I recently did a review on this palette if you'd like a more in-depth look with swatches and the shadows on, read more here.

Mac's 'Russian Red' lipstick

As it was the festive season, December is the time to whip out red lipstick. The one, in particular, I've been reaching for is my holy grail, Mac's 'Russian Red'. I genuinely love this lipstick. Not only is the lasting power endless, but the red is also truly rich and paired with a golden eye looks flawless. Even though it's a matte shade, I don't find it to be drying, only if worn for the entire day without any re-application. It's certainly my number one red and if you love darker lipsticks as much as me, it's definitely one to try out!

Mac's 'Russian Red' lipstick

Mac's 'Faux' lipstick

Another lip favourite the past month has been a nude Mac lipstick. On the days I wanted to wear a more toned down makeup look or not rock a bright lip, I opted for the stunning, Mac 'Faux'. This beauty is a satin finish and very similar to Mac's 'Brave', yet is a slightly duskier pink and peach-toned shade. I would describe it as your lips but better, adding oomph to your natural lip colour. Due to the finish, it's not as lasting as a matte shade, however really moisturising, looking fabulous for an everyday look. I love also how as the shade is rather subtle you don't need to be as precise as when applying a dark lip. I definitely think I'll be reaching for this more and more in the next few months - a complete stunner!

Top 4 red Christmas lipsticks

Well hello to you my reader chums! Christmas is right around the corner and what better way to get in the spirit than discuss my favourite makeup product, lipsticks. With every festive makeup look, a red lip is essential, whether that's a classic matte lipstick or lipgloss with a touch of festive sparkle.

Here's a look at my top red Christmas lipsticks...

Top 4 red christmas lipsticks

Mac's matte lipstick in 'Russian Red'

I've always said, matte lipsticks are my go to that when it comes to a red lipstick, it's no different. Mac's 'Russian Red' has been my staple red lip for all occasions, but I especially love to rock it at Christmas time. I'd describe it as the perfect red, not too dark and not too pale, a medium shade suited for a variety of looks. The lipstick has intense pigmentation, a creamy consistency and long-lasting power. It's one of those lipsticks that can last all night from one application. I couldn't recommend it enough!

Nars matte lipstick in 'Cruella'

A slightly darker red is Nars matte lipstick in 'Cruella'. This lipstick has it all for the Christmas season with the darker colour, matte finish and long-lasting wear. Even though it's a matte formulation, the lipstick has a soft consistency and isn't drying on the lips. It also draws on easily with the pencil design and is able to last for hours on end. 'Cruella' is the type of shade that suits a variety of skin tones and looks; the perfect choice for the big Christmas Day itself.

Revlon matte balm in 'Striking'

If you prefer a brighter red, then Revlon's matte balm in 'Striking' is for you. I'd describe it as a 'fruity-like' red, a colour with that slight underlying orange tone. Revlon matte balms have the best creamy formulation that it feels like you're only applying a normal lip balm. However, it offers intense pigmentation and long-lasting power. Even though it's a 'matte balm', there is a slight sheen over the top which to me is that 'bright Christmas glimmer'. I think this lipstick is best for those slightly quirkier looks or outfits that need a pop of colour in the festive season.

Nyx's throttle lipstick in '01'

Unlike the other lipsticks, this option is not an obvious red, however has a slight red undertone. The shade is a dark burgundy with brown and red tones running through it. This lipstick works best with everyday makeup, whether that's a simple or glitzy eye look. It has a soft formulation and creamy consistency which easily applies onto the lips.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What's your favourite red Christmas lipstick?

The best lipsticks to wear in winter time

Well hello to you my reader chums! Since we've now reached November, where autumn is coming to a close and winter is fully emerging, I thought it'll be the perfect time to share with you my go-to lipstick for the season.

When the cooler months hit, I start to grab for the darker tones, my favourite kind of lipsticks to wear. Nothing can pull together the perfect autumn/winter outfit than a strong berry, vampy or red lip.

If you're a big fan of darker lipsticks, here are the best lipsticks to wear in the wintertime.

Mac's Russian Red lipstick

'Russian Red' has to be my ultimate must-have red. It's a classic blue-toned red which glides on beautifully even though the finish is matte. The colour pigmentation is flawless, holding its strength for lengthy amounts of time and the consistency is rather creamy when applied. It becomes a true staple nearer to Christmas when I really reach for a defined red lip.

For a drugstore option, Rimmel's '01' lipstick has the same red tone, yet with a glossy, slightly pinkier finish.

Rimmel's lipstick in 107

As soon as Autumn hits, I tend to whip this out straight away because the colour is simply gorgeous, perfect for this season. I'd describe it as a red/pinky toned burgundy shade because it's more on the red scale when it comes to darker lipsticks. It's a matte option, where similar to Russian red, it isn't drying on the lips and holds a creamy consistency.

The lasting power isn't as strong, however, it still stays on the lips for several hours, keeping the staple berry lip look. If you're looking to branch out on to berry lips and don't want anything too dramatic, this is a fabulous choice, I adore it.

Revlon's matte balm in 'Sultry'

Despite the cooler season being all about berry/darker lip shades, there are days where I prefer to wear a nude/pink lip. As pale nudes or pinks aren't really me, I love to go for a dusky pink colour. This one, in particular, is simply divine, I can't get enough of it. It's in a chubby stick style, making application really easy as there's more control when drawing on the colour.

When applied, the consistency is so soft and even though it's matte, it feels incredible on the lips. For matte balms I didn't think the lasting power would be good, however, it's fantastic, they last like a dream and set really well on the lips, making it feel like you're not wearing lipstick. The colour is stunning, a slightly dark dusky pink, which really compliments my skin tone. It's not a very striking or subtle colour, therefore ideal for that in-between shade.

Maybelline's lipstick in 'Berry Much'

Moving onto the truly vampier shades that for me completely scream autumn, 'Berry much' fits the category perfectly. Crafted in a pencil shape form, the application is simple, whereas the nip is thinner than a typical lipstick, creating a stable purple lip easily. The colour is absolutely astonishing, ideal for those who are vampy lip lovers.

When applied on the lips, the pigmentation is strong, where the colour itself is a definitive berry, purple shade. I'd say the colour holds rather well, the packaging is incredible and overall it's perfect to create that bold purple lip.

Mac's lipstick in the shade 'Diva'

If you've read my recent favourites post or latest tutorial, you'd see I've featured this lipstick as it's become a top favourite very quickly. Colour-wise, I'd say it's very similar to 'Berry much', where 'Diva' is slightly more burgundy toned, compared to 'Berry much' holding more of a purple base.

The pigmentation it tremendous, building a perfect stable dark lip when applied. Its lasting power is heavenly as is the consistency because like many of the other lipsticks, despite the matte finish it's a very creamy texture. I'm genuinely obsessed with this lipstick, the only thing left to say is you need it. It's definitely worth the splurge.

I hope you enjoyed this post on my go-to autumn/winter lipsticks, as you can tell I'm in my prime this time of year! What are your favourite lip shades?

March favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! March has just gone by super quickly and I can't believe we're now into Spring with Summer coming up, something I'm very happy about! Through the month I've discovered some new gems and have uncovered an old favourite.

March favourites beauty products

Mac's Russian Red lipstick

I finally got my hands on this in mid-February and it since has become one of my top going out lip products. The colour in my opinion is the perfect red, a glamorous dark shade ideal for the utmost occasions and special days out.

As its a matte finish, it lasts for a good old while and my preferred choice when it comes to lip products. The lipstick itself is blue-toned, having the ability to make your teeth look whiter, a feature great for that special occasion. I just adore this lipstick, the finish, lasting power and colour are fabulous.

Topshop's blusher in 'Morning Dew'

The next item is Topshop's cream blush in 'Morning dew' which used to be a great favourite of mine, however, I stopped using it for a while until I picked it up at the beginning of this month.

To me its a very Spring/Summer shade and consistency. As its a cream blush, when applied its creamy to blend yet has a powder finish. The final look it gives is a lovely dewy, pinky glow like a beautiful natural flush to the skin. I would definitely recommend the Topshop cream blushes.

BarryM nail polish in 'Vintage Violet'

Most of my collection is Barry M with a few other brands thrown in yet I always go back to the trusty Barry M. The shade I've been loving this month is 'Vintage Violet'. For me, it's a transitional colour from Winter to Spring because the colour is mid purple, not too light or dark.

Garnier Cleansing Lotion in 'Start Afresh'

A new skincare addition has been another favourite of the month, the Garnier cleansing lotion in 'Start Afresh'. One of the main reasons I love this is because it helps take off excess makeup/dirt after I've removed my makeup and leaves the skin feeling super soft, fresh and leaves a lovely scent. It's a very gentle product with a creamy consistency and does the job rather well. I also love how it matches my moisturiser because they both have the same scent!

Blistex lip balm

This lip balm has the most delicious smell, leaves a lovely pink sheen on lips and them feeling smooth, a great Spring lip balm.

Tanya Burr's book signing and shopping haul

Well hello to you my reader chums! I attended Tanya Burr's book signing and finally got the chance to meet her. I've been watching her videos for years and it was really surreal meeting her in person.

If you're a big Tanya Burr fan or love reading a shopping haul, here is my full experience of Tanya Burr's book signing.

Tanya Burr's book signing

I'm genuinely really enjoying Tanya's book, it has such sweet personal touches and I love all the tips she gives about  makeup, skincare etc.

Tanya Burr's book signing

Since security was quite strict about pictures, it was hard to snap a quick one before actually meeting her. However, I'm super happy I had a conversation with Tanya.

Since I was in Bluewater and am a bit of a shopaholic I couldn't resist picking up a couple of bits. Here is a full look at everything I bought.

Bluewater shopping haul

Mac's Russian Red lipstick

I'd like to point out its my first ever Mac lipstick and I'm extremely happy to finally have one. I thought as it was Valentine's day I would treat myself! The colour itself is dark red, perfect for a statement red lip, I can't wait to start wearing it!

Dragon's Egg bath bomb

I obviously had to make a trip to Lush to stock up! I picked up one of my ultimate favourite bath bombs which is Dragon's egg. I adore the smell to this, it reminds me of lemon sherbets and orange sweets. The scent is so strong that when I leave it in my room, it lets off a beautiful aroma around the room.

dragon's egg bath bomb

Honey Bee bath bomb

I haven't tried this one out before, however, it had a very similar scent to Lush's golden egg which was around at Easter time, one that had a gorgeous smell. I'm definitely into the bath bombs with sweeter scents!

Topshop clothing

The top I bought, I've had my eye on for a while now because I love the detailing. I never picked it up before as I would always stop myself, although yesterday I gave in and bought it. Usually I'm not one to wear green (or many colours really), I tend to stick to monochrome and neutral items.

Despite that, I love this top, I think the shade of green/teal is beautiful and the lace detailing really adds to the overall look. One thing I admire about Topshop is the fact they have a petite range. I'm quite small/ thin and sometimes find it hard to get my size in general clothing stores. Therefore it's lovely to go into a shop where they have a section which caters to my size. This cost me £22.

Topshop cropped t shirt

Forever 21 clothing items

Every time I go to Bluewater or London, going into Forever 21 is a must. I love how there's something for everyone and how the shop caters to a variety of styles. The first clothing piece was these black skinny jeans. I'm one of those people who always stick to denim jeans and therefore wanted to push the boat out a bit and get a pair of black jeans.

forever 21 jeans

I also picked up another pair of the denim high waisted jeans as they are oh so comfy and I get a lot a use out of the pair I already own. Both jeans only cost me £12 each which I think is a bargain!

forever 21 jeans

Another item I picked up was this oversized cream jumper. It's a tad longer than a usual jumper and is the softest thing. I think it's going to be perfect for a chill day or just with jeans and boots for an ultra-casual look. It's quite a light material, ideal for the upcoming spring months! For only £7, I think that's a proper bargain for a versatile piece.

forever 21 shopping haul

The last thing I purchased from Forever 21 was this slouchy, stripy top. I was on the hunt for a stripy crop top and tried a selection on, however was unsuccessful, yet when I picked this up and put it on, it was extremely soft/light and I loved it. Even though its not the crop top I was going for, its still the pattern I wanted and as its slouchy, I can wear it for a lot of casual occasions. I can either tuck it into skirts or pair it with shorts and jeans! This was £9.

Top autumn lip products

Well hello to you my reader chums! Autumn is truly amongst us, with the shorter days, crisp weather and layering fashion, I wanted to share my top lip products for this season. If you know me, I adore anything to do with darker lip shades; reds, burgundies and berries are my ideas of heaven, so I love pulling out my collection when this time of year hits.

Whether you're obsessed with darker lipsticks or looking to try them out, here are my top autumn lip products.

Swatches of the best autumn lipsticks

Mac's Diva matte lipstick

The famous blogger lipstick and the holy grail of mine, Mac's Diva is the perfect purple toned, burgundy shade. Paired with copper, golden or bronzed eyes, this dazzling lipstick completes any autumnal look. The formulation is creamy, pigmentation strong and its lasting power, faultless. It has to be one of my favourite lipsticks of all time that I love to whip out when the cooler months come around.

Mac's Russian Red matte lipstick

Similar to Diva, Russian Red is my staple, go-to lip in the autumn months. I find it's the perfect red for me, not too subtle or bold, a lovely in-between. It's a blue tone shade which in turn compliments the colour of your teeth. The pigmentation, colour pay off and lasting power I cannot fault. When I begin to use this one from my collection, it feels like Christmas is just around the corner! The lipstick is hyped up for good reason, I never want to use anything else when choosing a bold red lip. As it's a matte finish, I love it even more because I find not only do they last longer yet suit my style much more than a gloss.

Autumn lip products swatches

BarryM lipstick in LPS1

BarryM is a brand that is completely underrated when it comes to lip products. This burgundy beauty has a slight fuchsia tone to it and isn't as dark as the vampy 'Diva'. I love that because it wears for a more subtle berry lip. The formulation is creamy and applies very soft on the lips, leaving a slight sheen over the matte finish. One of its best features is the lasting power, this lipstick grips onto your lips until you wipe it off! A definite recommendation, I'd love to try out more of their range.

Kiko's lip liner in 313

I never used to be one to dabble into the lip liner world until I discovered Kiko's comfort lip liners. Whichever shade, they're dreamy on the lips, holding long-lasting colour with seamless pigmentation and easy application. Colour '313', is similar to the BarryM shade, with a more fuchsia undertone to the berry colour.

Nyx matte lip cream in 'Cannes'

For an alternative nude option on days, you don't fancy a darker lip, my go-to favourite is Nyx matte lip cream in 'Cannes'. The shade is a dark, dusky pink colour, ideal to add a bit of colour into your makeup look. I love how it's a liquid lipstick, yet sets fast and leaves the most beautiful matte finish. The consistency is creamy and the overall colour payoff, intense! I'm obsessed and can't wait to buy even more autumnal shades from their range.

November favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! With November officially over and the festive season truly amongst us, it's time to share with you everything I've been loving over the past month.

Whether you're searching for the best full coverage concealer or a new bronzer, here are my November favourites.

November favourites

Urban Decay's Naked concealer in 'light warm'

I've raved about the Naked concealer for a while now but wanted to feature it again this month. Out of all the concealers I've tried, it's my favourite in terms of coverage. If you've got a massive blemish or dark circles you'd like to cover, this is the concealer for you. The Naked concealer's coverage is faultless, the consistency is thick meaning you don't need a lot and it lasts forever. Its shade 'light warm' suits me perfectly and with the yellow undertone, it helps cover a variety of blemishes easily. View the full review here.

Maybelline's master sculpt bronzer

Bronzers have to be my favourite face product because since I have quite fair skin and a round face, they do just what I need. For an everyday use, I've been loving Maybelline's master sculpt bronzer. It's one of the best drugstore bronzers I've tried! The bronzer is completely matte, perfect for contouring the skin and an all over bronze, without giving that summer shimmer but still the warmth you'd like. It's got a slight orange undertone but nothing too prominent that you're still able to contour a lot without the bronzer looking too cakey on the skin. Also, it comes with a highlight, offering two products in one! It's not the most glittery highlight, however perfect for an everyday subtle glow.

November favourites

Mac's matte lipstick in 'Russian Red'

The red lipstick season is back and there's nothing more exciting than rocking a festive lip. My ultimate favourite at this time of year is Mac's Russian Red. With the perfect matte formulation, pigmentation and medium red shade, I've been reaching for it a lot. It can last all day long and doesn't leave the lips feeling dry, I couldn't recommend it enough. If you need some festive lip inspiration, here's my top 4.

Furry denim jacket

I have a lot of jackets; they're one of those clothing pieces which I feel you can always buy more of. As the seasons change, it's something you change up with all your outfits especially in autumn/winter time. If you follow me on Instagram, then you'd know I've been obsessed with this furry denim jacket from Primark. It was only £20 and has been one of my best investments this autumn! You can pair it with black jeans, skirts or over a dress, it's very versatile. And, even though it's a denim jacket, the fur makes it that extra bit warm for the chilly autumn weather.

I hope you enjoyed this favourites post. Which products have you been loving this month?

Beauty review: Nars 'Cruella' velvet matte lip pencil

Well hello to you my reader chums! A New Year means this new lipstick obsession of mine. Nars has been a brand I've wanted to try for the longest time and finally got the chance when I received the 'Cruella' velvet matte lip pencil for Christmas. After being on my wish list for so long, without a doubt, it certainly lived up to the name.

Review Nars cruella velvet matte lip pencil

Packaging

Sleek, sophisticated and compact, the packing is to die for. I love the simplicity of the black tube with a pop of colour on the end to show the product's shade.

Formulation

I couldn't fault this in the slightest. As the pencil is matte, you'd expect the consistency to be tough or the wear drying, however, this isn't the case. Upon application, the pencil is incredibly creamy on the lips. The soft formulation means it glides on easily without tugging at the lips or staining them.

Review Nars cruella velvet matte lip pencil

Pigmentation

If you love an intense and truly pigmented red, this is the lipstick for you. The shade's pigmentation is very similar to Mac's Russian Red only slightly darker and with a creamier formulation. With one layer on the lips, the lip pencil gives a bold, vampy red, perfect to match any makeup look. It's the type of colour that suits a whole range of skin tones and can be worn on different occasions, whether it's an autumn day out or summertime ball.

Lasting power

The main quality I look for in lipsticks is the lasting power, as no matter what technique I use, lip products seem to vanish from my lips. However, this Nars pencil is one of the most long-lasting lipsticks I've tried. Since it's a matte formulation, it'll prolong the lasting power anyway in comparison to a gloss. After application and without the help of a lip liner, I'd say the lips pencil can last the entire evening. Through drinking and eating, there will be wear from the centre of the lips but ultimately the product clings on. It's the perfect red lip staple for any evening out.

Overall thoughts

The intense pigmentation, creamy formulation and long-lasting power is faultless, I couldn't recommend it enough. If you're on the hunt for a new red lipstick and would like to treat yourself, this is for you.

Autumn fashion and beauty staples

Well hello to you my reader chums! Autumn is well and truly here. As much as I'm a summer baby, there's something about autumn that warms my heart. The oversized jumpers, cosy nights in, neverending cups of hot chocolate, the lead up to Christmas, and dark lipstick screams autumn in so many ways.

With a change in season, means a change in how I dress and the products I reach for more often. Here is a look at my autumn fashion and beauty staples. *This post features gifted products and affiliate links.*

Autumn fashion and beauty staples

Oversized jumpers

I have the biggest jumper collection ever and when autumn strikes, I love having the chance to sift through and rock some of my favourite jumpers - and add a couple more to the collection. Nothing can beat, chucking on a huge jumper with jeans and boots. It's cosy, it looks super cute and I just love them. I especially love any jumpers of autumn colours; browns, oranges, mustards etc.

Blanket scarves

You won't find me rocking an autumn outfit without a blanket scarf. I like to wrap it around my neck, use it as some sort of cover on my shoulders or actually use them to warm my legs up when I'm in the office. They're such a simple accessory but can easily make a statement, especially if I'm wearing a monochrome outfit; the scarf can add that pop of colour.

Rings

I've never been someone who has been a jewellery person, however, it's something recently, I'm trying to work on more to accessorise my outfits properly. As in autumn, my arm and neck area is usually covered my jumpers, scarved or coats, it's not the season for bracelets and necklaces - but rather for earrings and rings.

Autumn fashion and beauty staples

I've been gifted the most beautiful ring from Daisy Jewellery and it's become my new favourite accessory. It's a silver ring with the daisies all around it. The ring adds the subtlest bit of colour to my hands and pairs really well with my Pandora ring. I also love how it's not too over the top in design, the simplicity bodes with my style really well.

Body Shop's pear hand cream

I get the driest hands as soon as the colder weather comes around and that means my stash of hand creams are dug out. My favourite hand creams are the Body Shop. I've used their hand creams religiously for years and my favourite has to be their pear one. When they launched it last year, I bought loads of tubes and will be continuously carrying one in my handbag.

Dr Paw Paw balm

I've loved Dr Paw Paw for years. It's the most natural balm I could ever use and I love how it can be used to moisturise all over the body. I like to use it on my lips the most as it's the only product I've found which really moisturises my lips, especially when they're chapped. The balm has no scent, has the silkiest texture on my lips and the soft feeling lasts forever.

Autumn fashion and beauty staples

Like It On Top, Lip Scrub Protection

My lips get really chapped when the weather is colder and having a good lip scrub is the perfect remedy for that. I recently received this scrub in my Roccabox and I've fallen in love with it. The scrub has the most beautiful lemon scent and when I scrub my lips, it's literally like putting a lemon cake all over my lips. It's yummy, scrubs well and the scent is to die for.

Red and berry lipsticks

Autumn means my favourite lipstick season. I absolutely love to wear a pop of colour on my lips when the cooler weather hits. It's the best way to dress up an outfit and really adds something to a neutral makeup look. My favourite red lipsticks are Nars 'Cruella' and Mac's 'Russian Red' and I love Mac's 'Diva' as my favourite berry tone.

I hope you enjoyed this post. What are your autumn staples?

Christmas makeup look

Well hello to you my reader chums! The week before Christmas has finally arrived; with the glitzy Christmas trees, wrapped up gifts and classic carols on repeat, I wanted to share my favourite festive makeup look. Like this week, there will be many family dos, work events and gal pal meetups, I hope this makeup look gives you a little inspiration.

Whether you're not sure about your Christmas makeup or looking for inspiration, here are the products I used for my Christmas makeup look.

Christmas makeup up look tutorial

Base makeup products

After my morning skincare routine, I applied L'oreal's 'infallible primer' to ensure my makeup lasted all day long. For foundation, I mixed two of Revlon's colour stay shades together (110 and 180) as I find that's the most suited colour for my skin. I used Rimmel's 'wake me up concealer' to brighten up under the eyes and the 'Naked' concealer by Urban Decay to cover any obvious blemishes. To set, Rimmel's trusty 'stay matte' powder does the trick.

Christmas makeup up look tutorial

Contour and highlight

Even though Christmas time is more about rosy cheeks, I prefer to rock the bronzed look. My favourite and go-to for any occasion is Benefit's 'Hoola bronzer' as it's the perfect shade to achieve those desired chiselled cheekbones. The highlighting palette is Sleek's 'Cleopatra' where I used the two bottom shades to get that golden festive sparkle.

Eyebrows and shadows

My brows are a medium colour brown that I find Sleek's eyebrow kit in 'light' is the perfect shade. Its wax holds the colour pigment to my brows all day long that I couldn't fault it. On the eyes, I used a cream eye shadow from Revlon and Tarte's 'tartelette in the bloom palette'. I applied 'flower child' as a base and run 'smart pants' through the crease of the eye. I then took 'funny girl' all over the lid and inner corner. To darken the eye, I used a blend of 'rebel' and 'leader' on the outer corners as well as taking it under the eye. These two shades have a gorgeous red undertone that gives the eyes that extra festive flair. I used Kat Von D's liquid liner and coated my lashes with Maybelline's 'Lash sensational'.

Lipstick

No Christmas look is complete without a red lip and my go-to has to be the classic Mac's 'Russian Red'. With its matte formulation, long-lasting power and medium red shade, it's the perfect colour for a Christmas celebration.

I hope you enjoyed this post. What is your go-to Christmas makeup look?

January favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! This year seems to be zooming by with the midst of February already creeping up and the season of spring at our fingertips. Over the past few weeks, I've been loving several new products and can't wait to share them with you.

Let's take a look at my slightly belated January favourites -

Sephora eye shadow stick in 'beige'

Sephora eye shadow stick in 'Beige'

I'm a big fan of eye shadow sticks. I find using an eyeshadow stick makes the shadows bolder and extends their wear time immensely. One I've been obsessed with over the past few months is Sephora's in 'Beige'. The stick's pigmentation is insane, a perfect everyday champagne colour. I love to pair this with every eye look and find it a versatile base for all. It's creamy to apply, blends easily and most importantly grips the shadows to ensure lengthy wear for eye makeup.

Too Faced melted chocolate lipstick in chocolate honey

Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in 'Chocolate Honey'

Being a chocolate lover, I couldn't resist finally treating myself to one of the Too Face melted chocolate lipsticks. I chose the shade 'Chocolate Honey' as I don't own any brown toned nudes so wanted to try something new. Safe to say, it's become one of my go-to favourites.

The matte yet glossy finish is ideal for many beauty lovers. Given the creamy consistency, it's comfortable to wear and once the lipstick has set to the lips, it feels like nothing is there at all. The colour is a beautiful brown nude which adds a bit of something to the overall makeup look and isn't too bold. With its lovely feel on the lips, the colour pigmentation and creamy, long-wear consistency, I'd 100% recommend it.

Nars matte lipstick in cruella

Nars 'Cruella' velvet matte lipstick

I never thought anything could replace my love for Mac's Russian Red but Nars 'Cruella' lip pencil has come in at a close second. The pencil-style applicator and creamy texture are enough to make me love a matte finish even more. With its insanely pigmented red colour, quick application and lasting power seamless, I couldn't fault it. If you're a big red lip fan, go and try this one out. Find out more in my full review.

garnier day cream moisturiser

Garnier essentials day cream

I'm not usually one to ever change up moisturisers and tend to use the same cream for a long period of time. However, I ran out of my go-to Garnier moisturiser for normal to dry skin and as Tesco didn't stock my usual, I picked up the hydrating day cream instead. This is an incredible moisturiser; its thick consistency and power to sink into the skin quickly is flawless. I love how even though it's a thicker cream, it doesn't feel heavy at all on the skin and the scent is ever so gentle.

Juicy couture perfume

Juicy Couture perfume

I think it's somewhat of a tradition to receive a perfume every Christmas time either from my parents or nan and last year was no exception. At first, I wasn't too keen on the scent of Juicy Couture, however, after a few spritzes, I grew to love it. The scent isn't like my usual Marc Jacobs or Burberry but has a muskiness to it with an underlying addictive sweetness.

I hope you enjoyed my January favourites. What products have you been loving lately?
