Review: L'oreal's Infallible mattifying primer

Well hello to you my reader chums! A couple of weeks ago, I picked up the ever so hyped, L'oreal Infallible primer as I was on the hunt for a new primer and had heard many incredible reviews. I have quite normal skin, however, my forehead tends to get oily from time to time. Therefore, I wanted to find a primer or a way of minimising this problem and as the L'oreal one claims to 'mattify' the skin, I was excited to give it a go!

L'oreal's Infallible mattifying primer

Packaging

I love the packaging! The design looks rather professional with the monochrome theme, nearing a more higher-end vibe than drugstore. I like the size of the tube because it holds a substantial amount of product ( I've used this for a few weeks now not making a dent) and when squeezed out by the nib, it doesn't go everywhere but leaves you with the right portion to apply to the skin.

Consistency

Initially, when using the primer, I was rather surprised by the consistency. The texture appears quite watery, yet thick, great for massaging into the skin and covering the entire face. I found that a little goes a long way as since the consistency was thicker than expected, you could blend it throughout the skin without needing more product. The primer as you can see from the tube is clear which I much prefer to nude coloured, creamy primers. Despite the texture of this product, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and sits well, ready for other base products to be applied.

Application

Is it weird to say I really enjoy applying this primer? As the consistency is slightly thicker but soft to touch, it feels lovely when blended into the skin. It settles pretty much straight away too, perfect to continue the rest of your makeup, especially if you're in a rush!

Lasting power

Being a primer, the most important thing is certain its lasting power and I can reveal it truly does the trick. As I work the typical 9-5 I'll do my makeup around 7am and get home about 6pm, so a good 11 hours for my makeup to last. Since using this primer as part of my routine, I found that not only has it really helped keep my makeup in place, it's also minimised the shine I usually get on my forehead by the end of the day. When using other primers, they didn't reduce that shine yet this product does and it's probably why I'm now obsessed with it! The L'oreal primer definitely lives up to the 'mattifying' name because as I said, it completely helped reduce the shine and really helps to keep the entire face matte all day long.

I hope you enjoyed this review.  Have you tried this L'oreal's Infallible mattifying primer?

Lip edition: The perfect pink nude combo ❤️

Well hello to you my reader chums and happy Saturday! I have to admit when it comes to lipsticks I'm a total hoarder, out of all my makeup it's my biggest collection. I love trying out new shades to pair with eye looks, completely changing the finished make up especially throughout the different seasons. Today I'd like to share one of my newly discovered favourite lip combinations,  I describe as the perfect pink nude.

I've never really been one for using lip liner, I usually apply the lipstick firstly with a brush and then go straight over it directly from the bullet to get the full colour pay off. However, I recently picked up some gorgeous Kiko liners and have been obsessing over them. I find when worn by themselves or paired with a lipstick, the lasting power is incredible, keeping my lipstick in place for much longer.

My favourite combination at the minute is the Kiko lip liner shade in 315, a beautiful berry toned dusky pink paired with Mac's lipstick in 'Faux', this stunning pink nude colour. To create the look, I firstly outline my lips with the liner and blend it round the edges ensuring it doesn't look too different to the lipstick, only slightly defining it. Then I apply 'Faux' over the top and you're finished with fuller looking natural lips, enhanced nicely by the slight darkness of the liner.

Here's a few swatches ( Faux on the left and 315 on the right):

Review: Lush cosmetics 'Yoga' bath bomb

Well hello to you my reader chums! With the cold winter chills amongst us, there's nothing better than coming home from work and indulging in a warm, comforting scented Lush bath to unwind. The one I chose the other day was the 'Yoga' bomb', a bath treat designed for pure relaxation! I picked this up initially because I fell in love with its scent and the description, how it's meant to be quite calming, something I certainly need after a long day.

As you can see from the image it's an orange coloured bomb which I must admit smells heavenly ( like all Lush products really). The scent is rather sweet, similar to parma violets with a slight citrusy smell too, yet overall not too overpowering.

Once dropped in, the bomb dissolves, oozing out a gorgeous, warm orange/ golden colour with flecks of glitter running through. It looked a lot like my absolute favourite bomb, Dragon's Egg which I would say hold a stronger, citrusy scent compared to the subtleness of this bomb.

After the majority has dispersed, slight specks of blue float through from the centre of the bomb, leaving an overall creamy, bright bath. I loved the finished look of this bath because for one it was incredibly welcoming to get into and also the blend of colours truly reminded me of summer time!

After soaking in this beautifully scented bath, your skin feels like an absolute dream, completely moisturised and covered in glitter of course! Not only does it feel wonderful, the subtle smell is best to unwind with as it's a really calming scent. I have to admit I spent an extra long time when using this bomb as it made me feel so at ease. I  will definitely have to pick up some more of these beauties in the future for evenings when I really need to escape from everything, enjoying some me time.

I hope you enjoyed this swift review. Have you tried the 'Yoga' bomb? What are your other Lush favourites?

December favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! With the festive period of December over and the start of a new year, it's time to share with you my favourites over the past few weeks. There hasn't been a crazy amount of products I've been loving, however, these items shown below are ones I'm currently obsessing over.

Whether you're on the search for the perfect red lipstick or neutral eye shadow palette, here are my December favourites.

December favourites

Aussie's 3-minute miracle

My first favourite of December is this Aussie, haircare treatment. I don't usually mention hair products mainly because I'm not one to change up my routine, however, I've thoroughly been enjoying this and wanted to share my newfound obsession with you. I picked it up as it was on offer in Superdrug about a month or so ago as I was looking for something to deeply condition my hair.

I use this treatment on my hair after every wash and I'm rather shocked how much of a change it has made to the condition of my hair. Since using it, I've found my hair to feel much healthier, smoother and the overall look vastly improved. I apply this after I've shampooed, conditioned and then leave it for the given 3 minutes to works its magic. The product isn't too thick, or thin, yet it manages to coat the hair and does exactly what it says, a '3-minute miracle'

Fleur de Force's 'Cosmic Bronze' palette

Another favourite of mine has to be this gorgeous eye shadow palette by FleurdeForce. Made up of 4 beautiful bronze toned shades, the quad is perfect for everyday use and those who adore a neutral eye like me. When swatched and applied, the colours are incredibly pigmented, blend well and last. I'd say the quality is nearing the high-end mark and for £8.99 it's an absolute bargain. With the size, it comes in it's also great for travelling and as you have 4 easy colours to use, you can easily create many different looks. I recently did a review on this palette if you'd like a more in-depth look with swatches and the shadows on, read more here.

Mac's 'Russian Red' lipstick

As it was the festive season, December is the time to whip out red lipstick. The one, in particular, I've been reaching for is my holy grail, Mac's 'Russian Red'. I genuinely love this lipstick. Not only is the lasting power endless, but the red is also truly rich and paired with a golden eye looks flawless. Even though it's a matte shade, I don't find it to be drying, only if worn for the entire day without any re-application. It's certainly my number one red and if you love darker lipsticks as much as me, it's definitely one to try out!

Mac's 'Faux' lipstick

Another lip favourite the past month has been a nude Mac lipstick. On the days I wanted to wear a more toned down makeup look or not rock a bright lip, I opted for the stunning, Mac 'Faux'. This beauty is a satin finish and very similar to Mac's 'Brave', yet is a slightly duskier pink and peach-toned shade. I would describe it as your lips but better, adding oomph to your natural lip colour. Due to the finish, it's not as lasting as a matte shade, however really moisturising, looking fabulous for an everyday look. I love also how as the shade is rather subtle you don't need to be as precise as when applying a dark lip. I definitely think I'll be reaching for this more and more in the next few months - a complete stunner!

Hello 2016 - New Years Resolutions!

Well hello to you my reader chums and a happy New Year to you all! I cannot believe 2016 has emerged, a fresh year ready for new goals, opportunities and memories to create. With this year beginning, I wanted to use this post to reflect on 2015 and share with you my plans or resolutions I'd like to achieve in the next 12 months. I hope for all my readers, this year brings endless amounts of happiness, adventures and cherishable moments.

I saw in the New Year with three of my best friends Danielle, Chloe and Molly dancing the night away! I had a truly incredible time and couldn't think of a better way to have spent it. Over the past 12 months, our bond has grown even closer and I couldn't be happier to have friends who not only support/understand me but never fail to make me laugh, bringing heaps of joy into my life.

They are crazy girlies but I love them:

2015 for me was an absolute whirlwind of year, packed with countless memories, special moments and personal accomplishments. From heading on my first girls holiday to Crete, experiencing many London days out including watching the Jersey Boys, meeting some of my favourite Youtubers as well as new people, going to LouiseLive, beach days, parties, karaoke nights out, my first blogger event and numerous loving moments with my close friends and family, there's a crazy amount of days I've truly adored. In terms of personal accomplishments, this year has been the one where I've learnt to love myself more, grew massively in confidence, come to terms with how to deal with my anxiety and been happier overall than I have in a very long time. All of these were helped by the adoring best friends I have boosting me up and supporting me in every way they can. With everything that I feel fulfilled in, I want to make 2016 my year, conquering all I can and grasping every opportunity.

I want to set myself a couple of resolutions on my blog in order for me to read back on them throughout the year.

  1. Say yes to new ideas - With my growth in confidence  and pushing myself out my comfort zone a little big more, I want to try say yes to new things, continuing that improvement. This could be anything from travelling on my own to a different destination, going on more nights out, talking to new people or any idea people throw at me. I want to be able to stop my anxiety from shying me away from things and try to enjoy every experience.
  2. Overcoming anxiety - I set this as a resolution last year and I probably will year after year as it's a gradual thing which takes time to improve/overcome. Over the past 12 months, my anxiety has been completely up and down where I've experienced incredibly hard moments and breakthrough points, doing things I never thought I would. I want to continue with that positivity and focus on what I have achieved rather than the times I couldn't face the day nor enjoy days out. It's kind of hard to put into words what anxiety is like, but here's a post I did if you would like to know more. This year therefore, I want to take more opportunities on board and to fully enjoy them without letting anxiety affect me. Obviously this is going to be easier said than done, however I think if I try and continue with that hope and faith in myself, slowly I'll get there.
  3. Be happy -  Despite growing immensely in happiness the past year, there's been times especially due to my anxiety that I've gotten really down and been hard on myself. I want to therefore focus more on bringing myself up, looking at the positives in my life when I'm feeling this way.
  4. Moisturise more - As a beauty lover, I can assure you I'm one to truly take care of my facial skincare, however when it comes to looking after every other bit of skin I have, the same can't be said. I want to set myself the goal of taking the time after my shower to moisturise my body, ensuring it receives the most care my facial skin regime does. With all the lotions I received at Christmas too, there's no excuse really!
  5. Getting healthier - Yes the classic new year, new me goal. I've decided to choose this as one of my resolutions because looking over the past year, working a 9-5 job and hardly doing any exercise had the worst effect on me, where I was tired all the time. Therefore, I want to create a new healthy regime with more wholesome, filling meals and actually exercising, either joining the gym or working out at home.
  6. Writing a book - I set this resolution last year and somehow throughout the 365 days I didn't get the chance to sit down and write it. My best friend Chloe got me this writing ideas book for my birthday and I've jotted some things down, filling out the exercises given to get the creativity flowing, yet still not writing a word. This means, I'd like to put the time in this year to sit down and write, write, write to see if I could actually do it, there's no harm in trying!
  7. Continuing my blog - There's nothing I enjoy more than sitting at my laptop and typing up a post on my blog. It's nearly been 3 whole years since I've created this little beauty and throughout that whole course it's brought me so much happiness, I love the blogger community its surrounded by and how lovely/supportive everyone is, through comments on here or Twitter. It's such a heart-warming group to be apart of and I couldn't thank my readers enough for continuing to always make me smile. Which means, I hope through the next 12 months, I post more and more frequently on here, sharing everything I love. I also would like to grow my audience on this blog, diving into the beauty community and becoming friends with even more bloggers!
I hope you enjoyed this reflective post. What are your resolutions?
