January favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! We're in the new month which means favourites time. Was it just me but I swear January went by really quickly? I think it was probably because how busy I was with all the work I had to do. It has been a busy month but here is a look at all of my January favourites.

Real Techniques foundation brush

Pointed Foundation Brush by Real Techniques 

I received the core collection set for Christmas and I was literally over the moon! I've been loving this brush for blending my concealer under my eyes as it applied really easy and has a gentle touch. I used to use my fingers to blend, however, I find this brush much more effective and quicker to use!

I fell in love with my other cream blush from Topshop so I was ecstatic when I received this one! Unlike my other one (morning dew) its redder toned and not as pinky. However, it still gives this natural glow look which I absolutely adore! It's easy to blend and has a lovely consistency, a must buy.

Maybelline Dream BB cream

I've wanted to try this product for a while to test out. This month I've been using it on days where my skin was looking uneven or could do with some brightening up. As it is a BB cream, it has a very light coverage, however, I love the tint it gives to my skin and how radiant it makes it.

BarryM nail polish

No word of a lie, I've worn this colour the whole month. I adore the matte finish it gives and how subtle the polish is a lovely natural polish. As with any other Barry M polish, it lasts about 5/6 days and has a very thick consistency when applying.


Urban Decay smoked palette

This palette is such a versatile palette where you can do everyday looks and full-on smokey looks which is the main idea of the palette, hence the name smoked. The eyeliner that comes with it I've also been loving, it's one of the best eyeliners I've used which stays put all day and has an easy application. An amazing palette, go and try it if you haven't already! I'll be featuring this palette in an everyday look later this week, so look out for that.

Book review: Della says OMG by Keris Stainton

Well hello to you my reader chums! If you've been following my blog for a bit, I've done book reviews before and you'd know I love a good read. The book I've chosen today is 'Della says OMG' by Keris Stainton.

Della says OMG by Keris Stainton book review

Initially, I came across this book as I was randomly searching my name Della on the WHSmith website. I read the description and it seemed like my kind of book straight away! 

Synopsis

Della says OMG is about Della, a 15-year-old girl who after kissing her long-standing crush at a house party, discovers her diary has gone missing. But, when scans of her diary are sent to her online, she is distraught and worries about how she'll be able to experience her first romance with her big secrets out in the open.   

Overall thoughts on the book

The funny thing is when I first read this book I was her age and we had the same colour hair and name. This book is super girly and the thoughts that are talked about is exactly what goes through every girl's mind. It's such a relatable novel which is one of the reasons I fell in love with it! I love the way it's been written, it's definitely suitable for a teenage girl as the language used is like day to day speech rather than posh words that some teenage novels have. 

This book is really down to earth and such a happy easy read, that I would read over and over again. It has your typical best crazy friend and those horrible girls at school that look down on everyone to make them feel better about themselves. When the diary goes missing all Della's secrets begin to be revealed and the person who ended up taking it was so unexpected!

 I love this girly fun relatable book with a hint of mystery! It has all the teenage worries and it just seems so real. A definite recommend, I love all of Keris Stainton's novels, she's such an amazing author and one of my favourites! I'd totally check this book and her other ones out if I were you.

Book review:The Fault In Our Stars-John Green

Well hello to you my reader chums! It's book review time again. I do love a good read, as you can tell by the title I'm going to be telling you all about The fault in our stars by John Green.
I've heard so many people rave about it and its definitely worth the hype. The story is told from the perspective of a teenage girl who has terminal cancer. The description of her everyday life really helps you appreciate being healthy and the everyday things like walking up stairs which Hazel (girl telling the tale) is unable to easily. Hazel gives an insightful view of her life, how it is living with cancer and the journey she takes. The novel is filled with humour and sadness. 'Cancer perks' are what she calls the things she acquires because of her illness, which adds a burst of light humour on the subject. The way she describes the story really tugs at the heart strings and you really feel her emotion and pain.Not going to lie I cried whilst reading it! 

The moment she meets Augustus waters  was just perfect. I think all girls who read this book want an Augustus waters in their life. All the moments that they spent together are just so magical, it makes you the reader really happy for them. All the struggles they face through after they met, they do together. It's such a beautiful romantic time when they're together. Hazel talks a lot about her favourite book-An imperial infliction, which her and Augustus again share together. He's just the perfect boy anyone could wish for. Each conversation they has ends with okay? Okay. Their relationship is so precious and it makes you fall in love with both characters. 

It has a rather unexpected ending in my opinion, I thought it would end completely different. However, I can't express to you how amazingly written this whole novel is. Through all the quirky conversations, the heart breaks, the beautiful moments life brings, it really shows you how special life is. It has it's ups and downs, but through them you become who you are. 

Honestly one of the best novels I've read, beautifully tragic, a must read! I'd recommend it to every single one of you! If you want a book that you will smile, cry and want to read over and over, this is for you <3

December favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! As were in a new month well new year, it's favourites time! I don't really have many favourites for December as it was quite a busy month with the finishing of school work and all the Christmas shopping. 

If you're looking for a new mascara or kohl liner, here are my December beauty favourites.

 I've been loving using this as a base, it really helps keep the eye shadow last longer and give a bit of glitter to the look. Gotta love some sparkle in your life! 

Boots lip balm

It came in a set of three with two other flavours. As soon as I got it, I used it straight away. The lip balm has a lovely consistency which really helps moisturise your lips as well as having a lovely smell. The packaging to them was really cute as well with sweet animals on them. 

Great lash mascara Maybelline

I bought this as I wanted to test out a new mascara and it turns out I adore it! As I have really annoying lashes that don't stay curled easily, it's hard to find a mascara that will help this. Great lash does this, it keeps my lashes long and curled with them still looking natural. Also, I realised after I got home I bought the brownish-black, at first I thought I wouldn't like it as I usually stick to black mascaras. However, to me it makes my lashes look more natural and looks as good as any black mascara. 


Metallic Cream in Gold Rush by Collection

I've been using this on the centre of my eyelids to brighten them and add some sparkle like I did in my Christmassy tutorial. It's a lovely texture and really easy to apply.

I've had this liner for a while but got back into using it lately. I've been lining my tight line with it, to make my lashes look thicker/fuller.

The Fault in Our Stars book

I finally got around to read it and it's honestly one of the best books I've read. I'll have a review up on it soon. Such a beautifully tragic novel.

Sales shopping haul!

Well hello to you my reader chums! Thought I begin the new year with a good old haul for you all! 2013 had its ups and downs, but I've had the support of my friends and family through it all. I hope 2014 brings happiness and joy to all my readers! Determined to make this my year, do what makes me happy and stop worrying about everything. 

On Saturday I headed up to Bluewater with a couple of my best friends to hit the sales! We were there for ten hours, was a tiring but hilarious day! 
Here's everything I bought: 
The first place we headed was House of Fraser as me and Mel were determined to get our hands on the naked palette. Sadly in the urban decay section they were all out of the naked palettes. However the lovely lady there told us that the smoked palette was quite similar to the naked palette with it having some of the colours. Also it came with a travel size version of the primer potion and a black liner in perversion. 
The palette has several other colours which are beautifully pigmented and lovely colours to use for smokey eyes, hence the name of the palette-smoked. Also it comes with a booklet for tutorials for different looks. It cost me £35, I'm so happy to finally have my first urban decay product! 
The next place I bought something was lush where they had a 50% sale. I bought two of these soaps one for me and ones for Danielle. It's called angels delight and it smells divine, just like sweeties! I was really hoping to buy some of their face masks but they were out of stock. 
Another shop I got something in was superdrug. Mel and I literally ran in hoping they stocked sleek as the one near us doesn't. We were so happy to see that they did! I then went and bought their blush in rose gold. 

The last thing I purchased in Bluewater was this gorgeous jumper in forever 21. I got it in the bigger size because it looked better slouchier on me. It's honestly so soft and I love this pretty light pink colour. 

When I was there I saw these cute ankle boots in new look. 
Unfortunately they didn't have my size, however the next day I went to my local new look who also didn't have my size, meaning I ended up ordering them online. I think they're so classy and would be really cute with a skirt and tights. 
When I was in my local new look I also bought this sweet collared top, another one to add to my collection of collared tops! 
Not going to lie, I have an obsession with them! I absolutely love this one though and it's was only a tenna. 

The other dayI headed up to the shops again as I wanted to get something to help my skin as I've noticed my pores have been really noticeable lately and wanted to unclog them. 
I picked up this face wash by Garnier, I've only used it twice and I'm already noticing the difference! 
The last thing I bought was this bb cream by maybelline. I've wanted to try this for ages so I'm really glad to of got my hand on it.

Christmassy make up tutorial!

Well hello to you my reader chums! Merry Christmas to you all! Today I thought as its Christmas Eve, that I would show you how to create this Christmassy look which you could wear this festive season, I hope you like it!

Here's all the products I use to create this look! 
The first thing I do is the face make up.
I start by dabbing the collections lasting perfection concealer under my eyes to brighten them up and to any blemishes to cover them up. To set the concealer I push the Rimmel stay matte powder in soft beige all over my face, to not wipe off the make up already applied. I then use the bourjois chocolate bronzer and apply it on my cheek bones and lightly dust it on my face to give it that bronzy glow. For blush I use this topshop cream blush in morning dew where I dab it on my cheeks and blend it out with my fingers. 
The next step is eye brows, I use this light brown/taupe colour from the MUA undress me too palette. 
Now my favourite part the eye look! 
As a base I like to use this colour tattoo in eternal gold to give the look extra sparkles and to keep the eye shadow in place.
I then go on and apply the shimmery brown all over the lid, following with the darker brown in the outer corner and crease. Blend, blend, blend! For my brow bone, I use the creamy pink colour as it gives a natural highlight.
After the main eye shadow, I like to add some sparkle because its Christmas time yay! 

I apply this cream shadow in the centre of the lid to brighten up the eyes and give it some sparkle!

For the inner corner I then as per usual use this creamy colour.

At this point I'd usually go ahead and do winged liner, however I liked the look with out it. Instead, I used this black kohl liner on my tight line to make the lashes look thicker and the white liner on my water line to open up the eyes. To finish the eyes, I curl my lashes and apply great lash mascara by maybelline. I've been loving this mascara recently!

The last step is lips, I applied this chubby stick in crazy in love by MUA to finish of the look!

UnionJ Concert at the Winter Gardens

Well hello to you my reader chums! Last Tuesday I was lucky enough to go to the opening to UnionJ's Magazines + TV screens tour at my nearby town Margate.  I had such an amazing night and it was really nice to spend it with my best friend Danielle. UnionJ was honestly outstanding live, even better than their album, I loved every moment of the concert! Here's some of the pictures from the evening:

I definitely recommend seeing them live, they were honestly phenomenal! I've been a fan of them since they were on the X factor so I'm really happy I got to go!

Danielle and I were also lucky enough to meet room 94 who opened for UnionJ! The guys were such great singers and I loved all their songs! It was lovely meeting then too, they were so down to earth and funny! :) 

Overall one of the best nights of my life! I'm so thankful to have gone and spent it with one of my bestest friends! Thankyou for reading, I hope you enjoyed! <3
