August beauty favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums and long time no see! It's been nearly two weeks since I've sat down a blog post for you all. With August and summer now coming to a close, it's time to share with you everything I've been enjoying over the past month. Even though I'm quite sad summer is ending, I'm excited for all the cosiness autumn brings from layered clothes, berry lips, hot chocolates and movie nights!

If you're looking for a new bronzer or the best orange lipstick, here are my August beauty favourites.

August beauty favourites

Sleek Blush in 'Rose Gold'

I used to wear this regularly but put it aside and began applying other ones as part of my everyday routine. However, over the past month I've been wearing it again and have fallen back in love with it.

As it's quite pigmented, the tiniest bit is needed to achieve a pink flushed, glowy look. The product combines as a blush and highlight with the shimmering elements within. This mixture is the perfect duo and I just love the final glimmering look it gives.

Hair elixir oil

As I have quite frizzy hair, maintaining hairstyles can be a tedious task, however this oil has really helped me out. By applying a little bit through the middles and ends before styling, it helps not only frizziness emerging yet leaves a beautiful scent and my hair feeling ultra silky. For those who suffer with frizzy hair, I'd definitely recommend it as I saw a difference straight away.

Topshop's lipstick in 'Rio Rio'

I featured this in my last makeup tutorial and I love it. The boldness of the orangey-red colour suits my complexion amazingly, I adore the pigmentation and when applied it's not drying on the lips at all. I have a bit of a lipstick addiction so when there's one I find and will wear a lot, I know its a good'n.

The lasting power on Topshop's line are fab and their packaging is just super cute; I think their lipsticks are really underrated. If you're looking for that bright red/orange colour that's prominent but not too  scary, this is definitely for you.

Maybelline's Master Sculpt Bronzer in shade 01

Bronzers are one of my favourite base products and I love testing out different ones. I know this is quite a new release that I've only heard good things from and therefore was intrigued to give it a go. As it's a warm toned bronzer the undertone is slightly orange, however when applied this doesn't come through at all and you're left with a lovely bronzed glow.

It's quite a buildable bronzer which can be used for a quick all over bronze or stronger contour. I love how it comes with a highlighter too and the versatility of the whole product. It's easily blendable, builds well and can achieve whatever look you like with the overall appearance still being pretty natural. The highlighter is quite a muted, natural shade adding that tiny bit of glow above the bronzed cheeks. For the price tag, the quality is lovely and the products itself are so gentle to use.

Seaweed soap

I'm going, to be honest, and say I'm one of those people who forget to exfoliate/moisturise my body and would rather ensure I stick to a facial skin care routine. Saying that, over the past few weeks I've been loving to use this on my legs and arms to exfoliate, I find it's not too harsh yet rough enough to do the job. After using my skin feels refreshed and is left with a lovely natural fragrance. As it's a soap you can easily apply directly where the prickled edges help with the exfoliating. Now I've got into the habit, I'll definitely be doing this on a more regular basis.

Easy summer makeup tutorial

Well hello to you my reader chums! Even though summer is sadly coming to an end, I wanted to share with you a summer-inspired makeup look I've been loving. It's something I wore on an evening out recently which combines a beautiful golden eye, contoured, glowing cheekbones, and a bold orange lip.

Base makeup

To begin on the base, I primed the skin with Maybelline's Baby Skin primer and then blended Maybelline's BB Cream in the shade 'light' all over my face. To then counteract any dark circles and to highlight under the eyes, I used Rimmel's Wake me up concealer in the shade 'Ivory'. After all the liquid face products were applied, I picked up Rimmel's Stay Matte powder in the shade 'silky beige', to set them.

Contour and highlight

When it came to adding some warmth onto the skin and contour the cheekbones, I reached for my trusty Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess. Using my real techniques blush brush, in a few layers I built up the contour and then dusted the excess over my face for a lovely bronze glow. Moving onto highlight, I picked up Sleek's 'Rose gold' blush which I find combines as a blush and a highlight. I brushed this on from the apples of my cheeks going upwards.

Naked palette Urban Decay

Eye makeup

The next step is eyes, where I used my favourite palette, Naked 1. I primed my eyelids with Urban Decay's primer potion and then swiped the shade 'Half baked' all over the lids. This is one of my favourite gold eye shades that I'll always choose when wanting a glammed-up look. I find it contains the perfect amount of shimmer and really brings out my blue eyes. As my transition colour, I took 'Naked' which slightly warmed up the eyes before I applied 'Buck' in the outer thirds of my lids, adding some definition. To then open up my eyes, I highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with the shade 'virgin'.

For me, no going out look is complete without the winged liner and several coats of mascara. Therefore I drew on a substantial wing using L'oreal's super liner and then added a couple of coats of Lash sensational mascara. I can't stress to you how much I love the combo of L'oreal's super liner and Maybelline's lash sensational as those products are genuinely amazing and work incredibly well!

Lip products

Completing the makeup look with lips, I chose this gorgeous orangey-red Topshop lipstick in 'Rio Rio'. I'm absolutely obsessed with this colour because to me it screams summer and gives so much fun to any makeup look. It's quite a bold option which is why I like to save it for going out occasions where I can experiment with my makeup. I have to say, I think Topshop lipsticks are very underrated, the pigmentation on this one for instance is exemplary, leaving my lips feeling moisturised and although it's matte, there's a beautiful glossy look over the top when applied.

Beauty review: New holy grail hair product

Well hello to you my reader chums! Today I've got a review for you on a hair product I've been obsessed with over the past month, Orofluido's zen control elixir. I've received this at Catalyst's PR event, where on the day at the Revlon booth, they used this product when styling my hair. Once they applied it, I was intrigued by the delicious scent and couldn't wait it give it a go!

Having such naturally wavy and slightly frizzy hair, I've always found it hard to keep a hairstyle in tact no matter what sort of products I would use. For example if I were to straighten it or put it up in a ponytail, the natural waves would come through and my hair would frizz out and wouldn't look how I'd like it. Therefore, as you can imagine doing my hair became quite a frustrating and tedious task. However I then discovered this little beauty, which has changed my hair styling process for the better!
Packaging -  With majority of hair products I own, they tend to come in plastic bottles or tubes, however this oil's bottle is simply stunning, The thin, rounded glass tube with floral pattern on the front looks elegant and I love how it's clear because you can see how much of the product is left.

Consistency -  The hair oil I find is the perfect consistency because it's not too thick or heavy, yet not to thin either which makes it easier to smooth through the hair. It's a very light product and isn't sticky in the slightest, meaning when its blended through, it doesn't weigh the hair down or make it unpleasant to touch. Once put through the hair ( I mainly focus from middle to ends), it's left feeling amazingly smooth and healthy, giving a fabulous shine after straightening.

Scent -  Initially, the scent was what attracted me to this elixir because it's one of those smells that you keep wanting to come back to. I'm not the best at explaining scents, yet how I will describe it is mix between floral and musky that isn't too overwhelming. Even though it's not a heavy scent, it does cling to the hair and stays for a good while after use.

Benefits -  The top features of this product are endless for me, hence why it's my new holy grail. From the first use I was hooked and knew it'll become part of my routine. I typically like to apply this either after I've used heat defence so pre-styling or when the whole look is complete. I then find when straightening for instance, styling becomes much easier and the straightness will stay in tact, for the whole day, with frizziness reduced entirely. I love how this magical elixir has the ability to not only tame frizz but continue to make my hair look silky. Even if now my hair begins to wave, it's not a frizzy mess like it used to be, my hair somehow stays tame.

I hope you enjoyed this review. What are your holy grail hair products?

Top 5 underrated makeup products

Well hello to you my reader chums!  For today's post, I wanted to share with you my top 5 underrated products. Within the beauty community, there are many hyped up products which numerous people rave about, however a certain few like the five I'm about to show you go amiss and aren't given credit for how amazing they are! I've put together a combination of 5 different makeup products that I absolutely love to use.

Here's a close up of them:
The first product is something I've used as part of my everyday makeup routine for a very long time, Maybelline's Dream fresh BB cream. I love this, for many different reasons, one being how perfect it is to wear as part of a light, everyday makeup look. When applied the BB cream isn't heavy on the skin at all, yet gives just enough coverage to add a bit of oomph and glowing, dewy effect to the skin. I'd say it's a step up from tinted moisturiser, coverage wise, yet it still has those soothing, moisturising abilities, because my skin feels heavenly when I put it on. One of the features, the SPF factor is a fab component because when it comes to summer time you can whip some of this on protecting you from the sun as well as giving coverage. I would a hundred percent recommend this to anybody looking for an easy everyday base makeup product because it has everything in one to achieve a dewy finish!

The next product is Topshop cream blushes. I think Topshop's makeup range as a whole is very overlooked as what I've tried from there (the blushes and lipsticks) have been such good quality. The cream blushes especially are what I use as part of my daily makeup and absolutely adore. I have two shades 'morning dew' and 'head over heels'. Both of which are quite pink toned, 'morning dew' being more of a rosy pink and 'head over heels' consisting of a red shade. Either with fingers or a dense brush, I find their cream blushes incredibly easily to blend, leaving the most natural looking colour on the cheeks with a slight shimmer running through. 'Morning dew' in particular is my favourite for an everyday use because it gives the most beautiful rosy flush to the cheeks. Using these has made me much prefer cream blushes to a powder blush as I love the consistency and how even though they are cream, they leave a powder finish. If all that isn't enough, can we all take a moment to appreciate the adorable packaging of Topshop makeup?! It's just too cute!

Another underrated product is Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess bronzer. When I hear about high end bronzers, the two main hyped up ones are Nar's Laguna or Benefit's hoola bronzer, not so much about Bronze Goddess. Even though I haven't tried Laguna or Hoola and therefore can't compare to this hype, what I can say is Bronze Goddess is simply divine and deserves a lot more credit. It's definitely a luxury item, which I love to use on evenings out, special occasions or when I want a strong contour. The bronzer itself is matte with the slightest shimmer running through it, ideal for building up a contour, dusting over the skin for a bronzed look and muted glow. It's just an ultimate gem for me where my makeup always feels more special when I throw it into the mix!

Heading onto lip products, I would have to admit these are the items I collect the most of and like to change up for each look. A range in particular, Revlon's matte balms, I feel are completely underrated. I own three of these, two pink tones and a bright orange, all of which are fantastic. They have the longest lasting power, are super pigmented, apply smoothly and don't feel too heavy on the lips. I find with some lip balms/sticks that after you've applied them, they can smudge easily, but not these, they set in to place and stay there for a reasonable amount of time. As the nib is like a pencil too it makes application simple. If you didn't guess I'm pretty obsessed with these and would recommend them to all!
The last product is an eye liner. Liquid liner is a feature of my makeup I wear everyday without fail and on occasions add a wing. To make my life a hell of a lot easier the liner I always reach for is L'oreal's super liner. As the tip on this is extremely thin, it makes application really easy, where you can build up a line as thick as you'd like it. It's also idyllic for winged liner because of this thin nib as you're able to again build on it. I find with some liners that the black isn't very definitive, however this liner gives the blackest colour, it lasts and is a dream to use! I love it that much, I always have loads of spares laying about!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What are your top underrated products?

July favourites

Well hello to you my reader chums! With another month over, it's that time again to share the favourites I've been loving over the past few weeks. I have to admit July seems to of gone by incredibly fast and it's so crazy to think we're in the 8th month of the year already. Through July, there have been a lot more higher-end products I've been using amongst a few high street items.

Whether you're looking for the best lip balm or a new bronzer, here are my July favourites.

Mac lipstick in 'Brave'

The first item has become my current obsession and it's the very popular Mac lipstick in 'Brave'. I have to say the colour, consistency and lasting power is simply fantastic. When applied to the lips, it glides on smoothly and gives a gorgeous dusky pink colour with a slight shimmer running through. As it's quite a subtle colour it can be used for a variety of occasions, yet because of that duskiness, it adds more of an elegant look to the lipstick, perfectly paired with a darker eye.

The lipstick is one of their satin finishes which means it's a rather pigmented colour with a glossy look rather than a completely matte finish. Since the majority of my lipsticks are matte, it's lovely to have a bit of a change-up. I've been wearing this on a lot of occasions, either evening out or even on a Sunday afternoon, as it's rather versatile. The staying power is glorious too which you wouldn't expect from a more glossy product and I love how moisturising it feels on the lips. Due to it being a lighter lips shade, there's not that worry of the faint stained lined around the lips when wearing a bolder option, which is always a bonus.  Love, love, love to sum it up!

Dr Pawpaw's Multipurpose Balm

As you may have read from my recent review, I've been loving this lately. I found it to be ultra moisturising and gentle on the lips, ideal for applying before bed or whenever I've had dry lips. It instantly makes them feel much softer and as it's fragrance-free, the product is not filled with an overwhelming scent.

Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess bronzer

It's safe to say that I absolutely adore bronzers and they're the best part of my base makeup routine. I love how they give such a healthy glow and tanned look. This one, in particular, I've been enjoying because it contours very well and is easily buildable, depending on how strong you'd like the contour. I bought this bronzer at duty-free on my way back from holiday and as my tan has now sadly faded, a bit of this dusted all over the face, concentrated on my cheekbones gives the perfect summer glow.

Mac eye shadow palette

Moving onto eye products, what I've been reaching for this month is my new Mac palette I created. I treated myself to this when I was in London for LouiseLive as it was the day before my birthday. I went for rather neutral colours as those are the ones I usually wear and will get the most use out of. I opted for a highlighting colour, gold-toned shade, bronze shade and matte brown as I could easily make many quick looks with these. This was my first Mac eye shadow palette and as I've heard many amazing things about Mac eyeshadows, I couldn't wait to try them out!

Mac eye shadow palette

The four colours are naked lunch (pink-toned highlight), amber lights (gold, copper shade), temptation (a shimmery bronze) and espresso (matte brown). My favourite out of the four is amber lights because as I have blue eyes, it makes them stand out. I adore its pigmentation as well because it's so rich and lovely blended with a bit of espresso in the outer corner for a pretty eye look.

Naked lunch is quite a muted shimmer pink shade and is best used for a subtle highlight or natural eye makeup. Temptation on the other hand like amber lights is a heavy and pigmented shadow giving a beautiful layer of bronze shimmer, great for everyday use blended out with a matte brown or built up for a smoky look. Finally, espresso, is quite a soft matte brown shade, meaning it adds subtle definition when applied in the outer corner.

After finally jumping on the Mac eye shadow hype, I'm glad to say I've thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with them. The blending and lasting power is lovely and with no fall down, what's not to love? I have to say being an Urban Decay eye shadow girl, they do give them a run for their money! With such a vast range of many more colours on offer, I'm intrigued to try out even more shades.
